What time should I book our return flight?

Just realized that I can book our return flight home for June 5. I can't decide between these 2 options, both are the same price.
Option 1: Flight leaves at 3:50PM so ME would pick us up at 12:50PM and we would land at 6:15PM.
Option 2: Flight leaves at 5:50PM so ME would pick us up at 2:50PM and we would land at 8:15PM.

I am looking at maybe having breakfast at Cape May on our departure day. We're staying at BW so an easy walk over. I'm not sure what else we would do on our until we left.

Which flight would be better to book? It's only a 2 hour difference and DH can pick us up at either time.

If you're having breakfast at Cape May for sure, then I'd take the earlier flight. I hate sitting around the resort waiting for DME. But if a little park time is a possibility, I'd stay later - but allow plenty of time to get back for DME pickup.

If you're interested in spending some time in the park before you leave I'd say go with the later flight. If not do the earlier one.

I think I might book the later flight, it will give us the option of going to a park if we want. Now to decide whether or not to book it now or wait. We're flying Southwest and the price currently is $103 which is decent, but it might go down. I know I'd get a credit, but we probably wouldn't be flying anywhere else before the credit expired. Decisions decisions!

We always choose the last flight of the day to maximize our park time.

I'd go with the later flight but I hate leaving Disney so I always try to take the latest flight possible!!

I'm in the camp of leaving early enough that you have backup flight options in case things go wrong. If a flight is cancelled or you miss a connection, there is still a chance of getting home that day.

We are currently booked on a flight that lands at MCO at 7:45AM. There is a flight that lands at 5:40PM and it would save me $40. I'm trying to save as much as I can and that money could be put toward food or something else. But I'm not sure $40 is worth losing 10 hours of Disney time.

Good point about missing a connection, but that won't be an issue for us, both flights are non-stop. We're lucky that Southwest usually has 4 non-stop flights to and from MCO each day.

Our Disney trips have been on the shorter side (4 nights, 5 days and 5 night , 6 days) and the way I look at it is I'm going to WDW because I want to go to WDW. We are park people on arrival and departure days. I don't want to be exhausted on arrival day, so we aim for a late morning flight (depart 11 ish) and we go to the parks after check-in. This year my flight home is at 8 pm which gives a lot of park time in the morning/early afternoon!

I don't know how long you are staying and if you'd have tickets for arrival day or not. For me, SW didn't have the NS flights I wanted, so I'll most likely book with AA for our flight to MCO. I don't know if any other airlines offer better flight times for you.

If you might swim at the resort after breakfast, I'd do the later flight. You'd have to be willing to change out of your swim clothes in the resort bathroom, though.

Too many variables...
Do you go to work the next day?
Do you have to get laundry done?
Are there other flights after yours in case something happens?
Do you plan on going to a park?

I'd take the later flight.... enjoy a nice breakfast, and spend the rest of the day enjoying the boardwalk area, and pretty walking.... just relaxing and people watching. or swim at the resort and then change for the flights later.(you can change by the pool) I like extra time on our last day to hang out and chill. (my flight home doesn't leave till almost 9 pm!)
