Bob, buddy - you're stressing out way too much. This is vacation, man. So here's what you tell the wifey - you say "Honey, I love you to pieces, but this early morning stuff is causing me way too much grief. We're on vacation and I wanna get some R and R, so chill out and sleep in for a change." Yep. That'll work for ya.
Jim, My Man - can't you tell that's not how I operate. I am not one to sit idly by and just watch the world move around me. And yes, I WAS stressing a little because we decided to try the DDP this trip and we were having trouble finding ressies this late in the game. Things are working out, though, and now I feel like I can sort of relax and anticipate the trip.

Don't let the DDP take over your vacation!! I've seen it happen all too often. It's not all about the dining...it's about relaxing and enjoying all the Mouse has to offer!
Hate to hijack, but does anyone know what time the boat stops running in the evening? Does it keep running for at least as long as MK is open, or does it stop some time before that?

I was in the same boat(no punn intended) Cram the kids in the car, it's a short drive up and around and you get to drive under the lake..... Just tell the security guard why you are there and you will get in and park for free!!
1) Going to be really tight.
2) The boat will stop at WL before CR.
3) The 2 (lue Flag) Motor Launches on Bay Lake serve CR, WL and FW .
4) Begin service at 0645 daily.
5) They both run clockwise until 3 p.m. and then reverse direction at 3 p.m.
6) These launches run until 2330.
Just a personal story on how the early boat worked when we used it.
Jan. 09 we took the morning boat to the CR 3 times. We went each time to the CR first we did not go to the WL before the CR. We never took this boat in the afternoon only the direct boat FW/MK so I don't know if it followed the listed stop route.
The boat s/b there for 6:45 but on each of our trips the time it got to the dock was different. This was never a problem for us as we were heading to the MK for 8:00am and we always built in time because my mom has some difficulties walking.
One morning the boat arrived @ 6:55, one morning @ 6:45 and one at 7:15! Unfortunatly there was a family waiting to get to Chef Mickeys for 7:00. When the boat finally got to the dock @ 7:15 the kids were in tears and the parents were angry! They told the "skipper" that they came to the dock @ 6:30 to make sure they would be on the first boat and that they had ressies @ 7:00 that they now would be late for.
At first the "skipper" was making small talk like he thought they were kidding about being upset but it was clear very quickly that they were very serious and "skipper" quickly got us under way and told them he was very sorry and never spoke for the rest of the trip.
As the family left the boat they told the "skipper" they would be contacting someone about the poor service.
Just thought I would share how the system worked when we used it. Everyone has a different comfort level in relation to time issues. I hope this info. is helpful.
We really like taking the boat when ever possible!
Thanks very much for the info. I am kind of leaning towards driving right now, I don't know if I would be a very fun person for the skipper to deal with if he didn't show up on time. I guess I have grown to expect certain things from people and often forget that not everyone is as reliable as you would hope they'd be. Can anyone give me more info on the shortest driving route to the Contemporary? Someone mentioned earlier about driving under the lake - my kids would love that, they really get a kick out of the tunnels in the mountains of NC and TN that we sometimes drive through.
