Hi everyone

this will be our first trip to wdw, and using your wonderful tips and advice im sure we are gonna have a brill time.

After it was reccommended my DH and sons booked to go on the behind the scenes steam train tour at MK, they have to be at the front gate at 7.10am.

what time do the monorail and ferry start and how much time do you think they should allow to park up at the TTC and travel over to MK

thanks so much

sue

The express monorail starts running about an hour or so before park opening. Same for the ferry I believe. The reason it has different times is that those not staying at a Disney resort have to park here, before getting transportation to the MK. Only WDW resort guests can get into the park early for EMH, and they normally would take the MK bus from their resort.

The resort monorail line starts at 7ish. You could go to the TTC and park, and then walk over to the Polynesian to hop on the monorail. But, I'm not sure it will get you there for 7:10...it would be pretty close.

They could also take the resort monorail from the TTC, right?

I don't know for sure if it stops at the TTC before the express line starts...

Now I'm confused. Haven't been to MK since 1991. Staying at CBR again. So if I take the resort bus from CBR to MK, I don't have to get on a ferry or monorail? So the bus takes us right up to MK?

Staying at a Disney resort you can take the resort to park bus directly to Magic Kingdom and do not need to take the ferry or monorail as well.

On morning extra magic days at Magic Kingdom the first express monorail and first ferry might not arrive until 15 minutes before official park opening, typically 8:45 AM. Use the resort (local) monorail to get to earlier engagements at MK. Squeeze your way to the head of the line of waiting guests and show the CM at the top of the ramp your reservation for the steam train tour, character breakfast, etc.

Absolutely! We always suggest that even those who have rental cars at WDW, and drive to the parks, take their resort bus to MK...it drops you off just outside the main entrance to MK. If you drive, and park at the TTC, you have to park, take the tram, get off, head to either the monorail or the ferry, wait in that line, ride, and then get off at MK....just a short distance from where the bus drops you. Much better to take the bus!!!

thanks for your replies but im still none the wiser :confused3 .

i should have made my postition clearer, unfortunately we are not staying onsite so my only way to get to MK is via the monorail or ferry so i really need to know what time these start operating as steam train tour begins at 7.10 yet park doesnt open till 9am that day

can someone help pleaseeee

THe resort monorail does begin running at 7am and that is what they would need to catch using WDW transportation. I would not "squeeze" to the head of any line but just tell a CM in the TTC area where they are going.

Another option would be to drop your guys off by the Contemporary walkway to the MK. Then no worries about being late. They could easily walk from there to the front of MK in ten minutes.
