What time can/did you disembark from the Alaskan Cruise? We are taking the Quick Shuttle from the cruise terminal to Seatac and the latest time they pick up from the cruise terminal is 10:45am. Is that going to be a problem?

If you can carry your baggage off yourself, you can get off as soon as they dock and are cleared by Canadian officials...it was about 8 am, though the line to get off was pretty long, and I don't know how long it took.

Even if you have Disney take your bags off the ship, everyone got off by 9:30.

Shouldn't be a problem. I think we were off by 9:30, and we were one of the later groups to disembark. While onboard, you can tell guest services that you need to disembark early due to travel arrangements, and they'll put you in one of the first groups (this will probably get you out before 9 AM).

After disembarking, are there clear signs for the DCL transfers to the airport? Is there a designated meeting spot?

I honestly don't remember any signs, but there were however lots of DCL representatives guiding you along. I did ask at one point if were heading in the right direction to reach the buses and we indeed were. While waiting in line to board someone will check your Key to the World Card to ensure that you have purchased the transfer so have the card handy. Also, there are FREE luggage carts in the terminal and they were a huge help in getting our luggage to the buses.

We just got off The Wonder to Alaska on Tuesday and we were assigned the first disembarkation time slot as we had "early" flights at 1 pm. This first disembarkation group had to meet at 7:30 am in the Walt Disney Theater (we were using DCL luggage and ground transfers to the airport). At around 7:45 they announced that those carrying their own luggage were cleared for disembarkation. Our time slot group was given the go-ahead to disembark at around 8 am. The line in the lobby still looked long for those carrying their own luggage as we walked off. The luggage area in the terminal is very tight for the number of people and pieces of luggage but it worked fairly well, despite a few people worried their luggage was lost. It was actually there, they just missed seeing it. Three quarters of the luggage was black so putting a large identifying ribbon on your luggage or something else would be helpful. We were on the DCL airport bus by 9 and at the airport around 9:40. The lines in the airport when we arrived were fairly long for luggage drop off and security but they moved quite quickly. But I would still over estimate time rather than underestimate. We were at our gate around 10:45ish. So the whole process from our 7:30 am "time slot" on board to arriving at our gate took around 3 1/4 hours. Hope our experience helps with others trying to plan! By the way the trip was fabulous!

1. Are there 2 separate lines for those carrying their own luggage v. those who aren't?

2. Does DCL transfers to the airport mean you can just hand them your luggage without having to carry them off? Is it limited to certain airlines? Or is it like in Orlando where you put out your luggage the night before and then you pick it up after you get off the ship....

Thanks! :goodvibes Obviously I am very confused. ;)

1. We just walked off the ship as a group from the Walt Disney theater. But there was a long line of people in the lobby waiting to get off (those with their own luggage). I am guessing that some that had been in the line of those with luggage had already disembarked before us though, but the line was still long as we walked out.

2. With the DCL transfers we had to have our luggage outside our stateroom in the hall by 10:30 pm the night before we disembarked. Like Orlando, they took the luggage from the ship to the terminal, but we had to pick our own luggage up in the terminal and take it to the bus ourselves (which was only a short walk--maybe 50 yards or so). It didn't matter what airline you were on. On our bus we were the only ones flying domestically. The bus stopped at the airport terminal at one spot to let off all those flying to the US, then it drove on a bit further and dropped us off at the Domestic airline departures. They do not have the "participating" airlines service like they do in Orlando for domestic flights, where you don't see your luggage again until you get to your home airport. Hope this helps a bit!

I can share my disembarkation & Quick Shuttle experience.

We booked the 10:45AM Quick Shuttle from Canada Place to SeaTac. We were hoping to get off the boat later than others because we didn't want to stand around Canada Place all morning, but we were assigned Daisy tags (second group to be tossed off the ship).

We got off the ship when our group was called (about 8:15AM), moved through customs in about 20 mins, got our luggage in about 5 mins, and got directed into the Quick Shuttle line by 8:45AM. We quickly realized that half the folks in line also were booked on the 10:45AM bus because not many of us were brave enough to book the 9:15AM bus. They boarded the 9:15AM bus with everyone in line who was booked/reserved on it (not many) and then started back filling with 10:45AM folks. We did not make it on the 9:15AM bus, but they said another bus was on its way in and we were assigned to that one. It took about 20 mins for another bus to arrive and for them to organize the manifest (passport info, etc) for the boarder crossing, but we were loaded and on our way shortly after 10AM.

We arrived at SeaTac airport around 2PM, after 30 mins at the boarder crossing, a 15 min rest stop break after the boarder crossing, and a drop off in downtown Seattle before continuing on to the airport. It went by very fast and was a smooth trip. I would do it again without hesitation.

You'll be safe to book the 10:45AM and if you get off the boat early, go can get in line and get on the next bus they can fit you on. Hope that helps!

This makes me wonder--if we ask early in the cruise, might we be assigned a late disembarking group? Or is it all prearranged?

You dont have to ask for a late disembarking time. You don't HAVE to get off just because you have an early time...you could wait until last call.

Is this true if we (and by we I mean my parents) are taking DCL transfers? Their flight is not until 4pm and they're not in a hurry to get off the ship.

Do the DCL buses simply "stand by" until all transfer passengers have taken the bus (assuming a reasonable time of course)? Or are you assigned a disembarkation time/group because you're taking DCL transfers?

At this point, I think they might be better off getting off the boat whenever (by last call) and taking a cab. . .

gonemousin''s - thank you so very much for posting the info on the Quick Shuttle. I am about to book it for our cruise next month and needed the time breakdown that you provided so desperately. I am less worried now, which is great because the tension to get everything checked off the list is building.

Technically 9:30am. We made a stop at Guest Services on the way out and were just about the last off the ship at 9:45am.

Yes, it is true. To address your other questions / concerns...

Our flight wasn't until after 5pm. We had all the time in the world to chill. We were one of the very last off the ship and we were on one of the very last DCL buses, if not the last. There were people working with the ground transfer communicating with someone monitoring people coming off the ship trying to determine if "anyone was left."

They will be fine taking the DCL shuttle if that's what they want to do.
