What time aim to arrive at AK to be at safari at 9:15?

Our first day we will be going to AK and our first FP+ is at 9:15 for the safari. We want to be at the safari right at 9:15. What time should we aim to get to the park?

I'm not worried about our arrival time any other day. We're staying at the Poly and will be spending the most time at the MK. But, we're trying to catch the 10am FOTLK.

Bump. I also need to get on the early Safari in order to catch Lion King at 10 and I don't have a fast pass. I've heard they rope drop at 8:45 when the official opening is 9???

That is a good rule-of-thumb.
Sometimes it can open earlier, sometimes a bit later.

These kind of things are never exact.
Like anything else at WDW, if getting to do a particular event is important,
it is better to arrive far too early than to get there just a minute too late.

Most guests can't time their arrival very accurately to begin-with.
Again, better to be early than late.

For reference, Disney does not always open prior to opening times. But especially at AK, it id not unheard of for them to open 15 minutes before or earlier. I have gotten there at 8:30 sometimes and only had to wait 5-10 minutes before they "open the gates". If the park opens at 9, be there by 8:30, walk from the car if you really don't want to wait for the tram. Get to the "gate" by 8:40 ticket in hand and just wait. Then if they do open early you can head off to your destination. Also in my experience, not many people try to make it to AK for RD. I hardly ever see a real crowd lined up. Not anything like MK which is a nut house.
