I have searched but can't find the answer to my question. We are new DVC owners traveling this October. I have looked at the prices so many times I'm confusing myself. Which UT ticket should we buy to save us the most money when upgrading to AP's? We're looking at the regular and premium AP and we need adult and child tickets.

thanks!

according to the previous posts, it's the 8 day MYW plus Water park and more option.

That's probably right (haven't checked) but it's whatever ticket has the biggest discount from Disney's price AND does not exceed the price of your AP (DVC price). If you spend too much on the ticket, you won't get a refund when you upgrade, so you don't want to spend over the AP price.

Why wouldn't you just buy your AP's? Why upgrade? We don't bother with Ap's and by MYW 10 day no expiration. We get close to three trips out of them, and sometimes more!

For child AP you need the 6 day PH No exp. option. For adult AP you need the 8 day PH and WPM.
For the adult PAP you need the 8 day PH and WPM with the No exp. option. For a Child PAP you need a 7 day PH No Exp.
All these are brought through the Mousesavers link to undercover tourist.

Evaluate what your WDW plans are for the next 2 years.

AP break even is ~ 10 days of park visits. Plus AP allows you to park hop and you can get TIW pass ($75) and other discounts.

Our recent experience and future travel plans will result in an AP and then a 10 day No Expire No Hopper pass. We found that we are not really park hoppers and don't need that feature.

Here is how we plan to purchase tickets over the next few years.

9/2010 - 9/2011: AP for 2 ($828) - 3 WDW visits / 15 park days. $27.60 per day/person.

10/2011 - 08/2012: 10 day No Expire ($904) - 1 visit / 6 days. We will probable only use 3 - 4 actual park days, leaving 6 - 7 days remaining for 2012-2013. $45.20 per day/person.

Estimated savings over AP renewals for 2 years: $452 - $614 (depending on number crunching).

Hope this helps.

Why wouldn't you just buy your AP's? Why upgrade?

Because you can get an additional discount (albeit a small one like all ticket discounts) by purchasing a discounted ticket and using it once and then upgrading to an AP.
