What thoughtful gesture did you do for others at WDW?

I think if we all would be a little more thoughtful to other people, we'd all be happier.

Here's what I do everywhere I go. Even if I'm in a hurry, if I see anyone taking a picture of their whole family, I always stop and ask if I can take a picture of their whole family so everyone can be in it.

It's not a huge deal, but I make an effort to do it everywhere I go.

(It's not like I'll run across the park to get someone, but if they are on my way and I'm walking by them, I try to do it):D

We give away un-needed fast passes all the time.

Back in September we had one of those i-zone cameras with us that had the sticky film in it. If we noticed a kid getting rather antsy waiting in a long line...we'd take their picture.

Takes about 3 minutes for the picture to develop...kept the child busy for a little while. :) Plus - they had a cute sticker when then were done!

I also offer to take pictures of families.. they are so appreciative.

Being pin traders we often attract the attention of a lot of children that want to look at our pins - and children that have just started collecting.

If they see a pin that they really like because it's their favorite character I often just give it to them. Their face lights up and the parents are amazed. Sometimes I'll give them one extra too and tell them to keep an eye on the CM lanyards and if they see a pin they like they can trade that pin for it.

I think it makes the day for some of those kids :)

I do that as well...along with 1/2 eaten turkey legs:crazy:

We gave away fast-passes, an extra dessert at the RFC, and reminded folks to keep their pal mickey's with them, as well as other valuables, when we saw them leaving them in strollers. (We had a PM stolen.) We also gave away an extra hotel room, but that is a whole other story!

Love the camera idea Stinkerbelle, and MeanLaureen, that is so sweet! I am sure you just made the day for those kids!

Nice thought outstandinfarmer. However, where I come from we would be suspicious that you want to run off with the camera! This actually happened to a friend of mine on a trip to D.C.

Seriously, though, you are right outstandinfarmer--if we all took a moment to be thoughtful to others we'd all be happier. As the doer, I think I get more out of it than the stranger I helped.

I have offered to take pictures of families and we give game tickets from arcade games (ski ball, etc.) to kids in the arcade so they can turn them in for prizes.

I'm not a huge pin trader, but I've done this also....makes me feel good (love the look on their faces)and I'm sure it makes the kids day!
I've also given away a couple of Styrofoam coolers to guests just moving in, while I was on my way to the dumpster at CBR. :) (Saves on a fridge rental~!)

 I'll bet you get a LOT of takers for that...

We offer to take pictures of families too.

Last year when we stayed at the Contemporary we went down to the game room for about an hour and i was playing skee ball. When I was done I saw a woman with a little girl and I gave her all my tickets - it made her so happy!

We take pictures of families and couples and give away unused fast passes. Lots of other families have done the same for us. My DH also gives up his seat on the WDW busses for ladies or older people. We are always surprised at the people who don't give up their seats.

Mean Laureen,
That is so nice of you. I know from being the recipient of many kind gestures at WDW that people are still talking about the nice lady who gave them the pin!!

We do pictures, bus seats and little things like that. All 3 of us like to do those kind gestures. I think my DH working at Dollywood makes him very sensitive to others in the parks. He always strikes up conversation with a CM.

If I ever have any extra money on a trip, I will be excited to do something like buy an unsuspecting families dinner. Wow! Those always sound like magical moments to me!

If you ever want to see magic in the making, hang around with Dan Murphy in the parks for a little while. He finds, creates and spreads magic like no other. Walt Disney would love the way Dan does a park!

My husband and I will always give up our seat to older people.
Also we have offered to take pictures.

I also give pins to kids who are interested in my collection or may be looking from a distance to see what pins I have on my lanyard.

Last October while in MGM I met a girl who had a broken leg and was in a wheelchair because the cast went up past her knee and she had to keep her leg out straight because of the cast. She was wearing a lanyard so I started talking to her about her pins, and as the conversation went on I found out she played softball and got hit with a ball a few weeks before their trip. You could tell they were a little bummed about the accident because it affected their ability to enjoy Disney as they'd planned to, and I felt bad for them. I saw she collected tink pins so I gave her two of my DL tink pins to add to her collection. Her eyes lit up. I hope that I made her trip a little better.

I will also offer to take pictures for families or couples. I take bubbles for our kids to keep them occupied when waiting in line or for a parade or show, and I'll pack extra bottles of bubbles to give to other parents to help occupy their kids.

I've never thought about the fast pass idea-I will definitely do that on our next trip!

When we went we often gave up our seats to older people or those with very young children. At one point I even ended up with a little girl on my lap..not sure how that happened either:confused3 She was chatting with me and DS (he was on DH lap) and next thing I knew she was in my lap. Her dad apologized but the kids were having a good time chatting so I didn't mind. (especially since dad was right there and watching her while talking to us, if he had not been watching that would have been another story) DH also helped a mother with her stroller. She was trying to get it collasped and it didn't want to. She was standing to the side and her Dh and child went on up the steps. (well they were pushed on by some people) When she got it collasped he helped her up the steps and then LOUDLY told the couple, that had pushed her out of the way and forced the family up the stairs, to MOVE and let her through!! This couple was preventing the womans dh from even moving back to her! I think DH's stern voice scared them though because they moved back behind us even..lol.
We also shared our water spraying fan with people nearby, especially if they had small children. We went in June and it was sooo very hot.
At the resort we gave the remaining dryer sheets and detergent to other people in the laundry area.

We always get more FP's than we need so we can give them away.

We always give up seats! And can I just add I have had some very nice people help me when I am traveling alone with my special needs son. It's hard to get on and off the bus with breaking down his chair and toting all his stuff on. Some wonderful guys always come to my rescue!!:sunny:

Pins, pictures, a spot to watch a parade, just out and out kindness we try to do it all::yes::

Doesn't it set a great example for our kids all through the year.

After receiving permission from the parents (or grandparents), I use my mister fan to spray down children that don't have access to one and are dying from the sweltering heat and humidity..

I always let small kids sit in front of me for the parades - always open doors for people - and allow others to have seats on the trams and such if they are in need of them - even if it means I have to wait for the next one..

All of the above. :)

We've given away countless fast passes. And we have actually received fast passes on a couple of occasions. Talk about karma.

We've given away extra food on a couple of occasions. And I've been known to give away pins as well.

My favorite part of WDW is sharing the magic with complete strangers. Random acts of kindness are the best.

I've taken pictures so people can actually be in the pics with the family.I've given away FP and have actually gotten a few in return(one at Universal was because of a PS for lunch and he gave me the FP for Back to the Future).I do remember leaving my bag on a bench by accident and someone followed me just to give it back

Wow...ya' know, the more of these I read, the more I wanted to head back to WDW :) I mean, can you think of any place else on earth where people actually go out of their way to be nice to the people around them ? Oh, there are always rude ones out there  But, it just seems that, at WDW, the ratio of rude to nice seems to drop quite a bit from out here in the "real" world....Guess that's one of the reasons we all love the place.

We've done the pin thing, we ALWAYS let little kids in front of us at the parades, and I try to find at least one "family picture" I can take each day while we're there...usually try for folks that look like they may be honeymooning, but I make a real effort to take one a day while we're there.
