I've seen many "work vent threads" and have been known to vent about my own job from time to time too, but now I'm asking everyone what are some things you LIKE about your job?

I'm a waitress (10 years now) in a nice family-oriented diner. For me, one of the things I like is the people I work with. We have a great crew. I really enjoy working with the other waitresses, the cooks are wonderful, and I like most of the dishwashers (just one I don't like, but I just ignore her).
We laugh and joke around, help each other out, etc. Makes for a really great and fun working environment.

I also love the fact that I can take time off whenever I want. I just have to tell my boss that I need certain days (or weeks) off before the next month's schedule goes up and she will not put me on. I can take a day or two, or have even taken 3 weeks off at a time for vacations. Granted, it's not PAID vacation, but taking time off whenever I want is a big perk to me. Also, the waitresses can switch hours/days with each other like if something comes up and we're supposed to work a certain day but need it off we can almost always find someone to either take the shift, or just switch a day so that is really a great part of my job too.

Making more money than I've made at any other job I've had is also something I like about my job. :thumbsup2

Getting 20% off the bill anytime we eat there is another thing I like.

And 99% of my CUSTOMERS is another thing I like about my job. Most of them are great, and I enjoy getting to know them. Many of them who come in are "regulars" and they just bring a smile to my face knowing it's my turn to wait on them. With some I even share in their joys and sorrows.

What are some things YOU like about YOUR job?

I love the people I work with. They are like family. I also love the flexibility of taking time off. There's no problem if all of a sudden I have to leave because of a sick child or some other emergency. I've worked for the same company for 17 years, and I think it's because of those reasons.

MOST of the people. Three of my best friends are coworkers. And I like working in a small place...just 14 of us.
I also love that we don't pay for our health insurance. VERY rare these days.

The paycheck

The great benefits (all 3 of us have medical insurance for $60 a month, dental for free, and vision for $8 a month)

Freedom to surf the net

They allow me to work 7:30 - 4:30 which is best for my DS's daycare schedule

That's pretty much it - I dislike everything else.

I like that I can be me. I can get away with my messy purple hair and black fingernails and my concert t-shirts and jeans and skull-printed Chuck Taylors. I like that I can decorate my cubicle with musician and guitar posters and listen to music while I'm working.

Oooh - Stacy and Clinton from "What Not to Wear" would love to get ahold of you. :)

I like:

no set time to come in (or go home)

excellent working conditions; beautiful office with terrific view

work with intelligent people

I work for a high profile company and every time I tell people they are impressed. I guess that's a good thing.

Oh, and the perks are great :thumbsup2

I LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE MY JOB!!! It's comfortable, the people are AWESOME (with a few exceptions but that's everywhere!) and it's sooo ME!!

My crazy favorite part of my job is every Friday we have a screening for our upcoming schedule. They order out lunch and we sit in the conference room watching future shows our VP of Programming is considering. She loves our feedback and after every showing we have a long discussion about the way our families will perceive the program. For ONCE I'm using my Theatre degree!!

Did I say I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE MY JOB??? Not to mention that I now make 2 1/2 times what I made a year ago today!! And working less and spending more time with my child!!! :cheer2:

I work for a defense contractor supporting training for deploying soldiers-i like that what i do contributes to more of our guys -including my husband coming home alive-and that it will eventual contribute to a strong new Iraq. The guys work with rare all retired soldiers-and they are great americans. its a small company atmosphere in a big company world-whats not to like?

I like knowing that I'm not stressed out everyday. I can take time off anytime I want to and if something comes up that I have to leave early or come in late, it's no problem. I like knowing that we're closed the week of Christmas so I always take that week after so I can be home with my kids. That's our family time and I try to do things with them.

Although I have a new manager now, we don't do some of the things we used to do just because she's a control freak. For example, we used to have a pot luck lunch every once in a while or we would bring in desserts for all to share. We stopped doing that just because my manager wasn't asked ahead of time of we can do that. My old manager didn't care so long as he had a plate of food. :rotfl:

I have my own office and I'm pretty independent here. I hate it when a boss type is staring over my shoulder. ;)

I like that this god-awful place allows you to retire at 55 with full benefits. Coincidentally, I'll be 55 in 8 months and 7 days.

I like the people I work with, my new boss, the fact that they're willing to work around my school schedule, and the fact that since it's a craft store, I now get to look at pretty Christmas stuff all day. :thumbsup2 That's about all I really dig about it at this point; I'm still stinging a bit from being downsized and therefore having to take an 80% pay cut. I used to work for a high-profile company that was impressive, but I don't anymore and I'm trying to make the best of things till I graduate and can go back to work for a different high-profile company. :)

Well, I like my new manager. He's not afraid of working and I think he will work out after all.
My co-workers, most of them, are really good people. A special few make my day go much easier. And one in particular, we get along so well. Our sense of humor is similar, and no matter what is going on, if we're working together, we will have laughs.

I like the customers, most are really nice people. The older people love to talk, and for some reason, they talk to me. When I get frustrated with it I can just hear my grandma fussing at me from heaven. lol

And I can't forget the good deals. If I find something at a great price, if I don't need it, I try to find someone that does. Maybe that's why they all like me. :rotfl2:

In no particular order:

1) I get to surf the internet as much as I like as long as my work gets done.
2) Kick-butt benifits
3) Now that I've been here over 5 years, I get 4 weeks vacation! :thumbsup2
4) Discounted travel (I'm a travel agent).
5) Best boss I've ever had.

I think it is amusing how many of us like the most about our jobs how much time we get off from our jobs. :rotfl2:

I like the respect of management I feel here (I have been here for 6 weeks).
I like the time off and flexibility when I need it.
I like the pay (almost 40% more than what I was making before).

NOOOO!!! Hands off the goth! :teeth:

Actually, Clinton is doing a workshop at one of our Macy's stores here soon, and a friend and I are going to sign up. I can't decide if I should wear my Skullboy "Love Me Not!" t-shirt or my "Same Nightmare Different Day" t-shirt.

Although between Skullboy, my Chucks, and the skull ring on my right thumb, that may be overdoing the skull motif a bit... :)

I like the people. Everyone is just friendly. I enjoy working with them. And the managers don't really act like them. They treat me with respect and like an equal.

I like the my time can be a little flexible. If I happen to come in a little late, I can just stay a little late. Also if I need an afternoon off I can make up those hours over the week without having to use vacation time. I like that as long as I don't abuse it my time can be fitting to my schedule.

Half day fridays! I think those helped seal the deal.
