What things do you know about due to having relatives of a different gender to yourself?

My dad and husband are very handy men. So if I'm in a predicament where I have to try to fix something as neither of them are around, I could likely YouTube some troubleshooting things and figure it out. I know how to use tools. If I only had the women in my life, I likely would not have this skillset.

I’m kind of mechanically inclined with an interest in how things work.
I learned a lot of hands on knowledge about woodworking tools from the ex. His father was a furniture maker so he learned from him. I certainly learned to have a healthy fear of his electrical knowledge (or lack of it). Come to think of it he wasn’t too good with plumbing either but I gained info from talking to and watching plumbers.
The man knew absolutely nothing about building maintenance and depended on the super to do the smallest things. After decades of living with me he was exceptionally proud that he could recognize a Phillips head screwdriver…
