When I booked the 1st week in August? I am really having major doubts about this. I haven't been to Florida in the summer in over 15 years and I forgot about the heat and humidity DUH! I booked the trip in March while there was plenty of snow on the ground:) and now I'm really starting to freak. My DDs have been plenty of times, so the need for alot of park time is not neccessary. We will be there for 6 days, so I thought maybe 2 days at the parks and 1 water park.

We are staying at CSR and it appears that there will be enough to do there if we decide to lay low and just hang out. Is that correct? The pool, surrey bikes, boat rentals?

I also booked the kids for the wonderland tea, and grand adventures in cooking. So that should be fun.

If this package was refundable I would definately change my dates.

Thanks for letting me vent:)

Awww, come on Mom. Where is your Disney spirit? I've been to WDW is August before and the heat and humidity has never slowed me down. In fact I'm going back this August! Just take it slow and drink plently of water and don't forget sunscreen. I also think a trip to ine of the water parks is in order.

I agree,I hate HOT, but hot at Disney is ten times better that home-I think that they get you in and out of the hot much bettter than anytime at home.If I'm too hot there-I can always get away from it.Home-I have no A/C-if its hot-I'm hot. We've been in August-it's doable..honest

I went last year the first week of August & I am doing it again this year!
Drink lots of water and remember that there are a lot of A/C areas to relax in too.

Have a great time!
:)

Don't forget to do early mornings at the park; spend the hottest part of the day at the pool, then back to the parks in the evening. You'll be fine!

When at the parks and it is very hot. We have our hot weather plan B. At MK, we do all the air-conditioned rides and avoid outdoor rides or those with long queues outside. So Pirates, Country Bear, Hall of Presidents, Small World, Carousel of Progress. That should get you through the hottest part of the day.

EPCOT is easier to find A/C attractions.....

You'll have a great time.

Mom to Moo... give your head a shake - you are going to Disney!!

Listen - I was there for 14 nights last August I am rebooked for 16 nights this August - you will be fine - you will really enjoy the pool, the parks & cold drinks - really you will have fun!

It's Disney :)

>>^..^<<

The pool at CSR has a great slide and is a fantastic pool. I'm sure you will find plenty to do at your resort but enjoy the parks too!

I, too, booked our mid-August trip while there was 2 ft of snow on the ground, and after returning from WDW in early Feb! My parents have made enough comments ("....our friends say' August, what are you thinking'....'you think it's hot now wait til we get to Disney", ect.) that I finale asked them if they really wanted to go. I told them I'd rather loose the $$ (for the plane tickets) than have them be so unhappy about going, and spend even more on the hotel (we are treating them). They reassured me that they were looking forward to it. They have curbed their comments, but I know inside they are thinking I'm crazy. I feel like I need to defend myself when I tell someone were going to Florida in August! I really hope no one succumbs to the heat, or I'll never live it down!

In august it is hot at home also. My theory is, I can be hot at home or hot at disney. Which do you think I pick?

This has been our standard response to that queston for years. We go evey summer, and we love it. :smooth:

We are going in August again this year - honestly - it is just as hot here in Massachusetts in August. In fact, if I have to go to WDW in the summer, I would rather do August than June because my body seems to have adjusted to the heat already. When I have gone to WDW in June, I end up with heat exhaustion and heat rash.

Drink water, wear a hat, use a squeeze breeze fan, cool off in the A/C periodically, you will be fine.

Last year we had a couple of cloudy days and that kept the heat down - worked out great.

Perspective: It's about 138 degrees in Iraq. Maybe 122 in Tuscon, AZ. Think cool thoughts. Wear a hat. Before a few decades ago there was no such thing as A/C and people still went on vacation and, I assume, were able to have a nice time.

I've been to WDW the first week of August twice now and though it is hot and humid, so is much of the US, including where I live. What I like about that time of year is the extended hours, so I can take a break during the heat of the day or while the afternoon shower happens, and still have the relatively cool evening to spend in the parks. I think you'll be fine. Time to get excited!

I like the heat......but even if I didn't....I would agree with :

I actually wanted to go in August this year. But August is a "black-out" month for me at work, so couldn't get the time off til Oct.
Yes, it is hot in the afternoon.......but I love the evenings. It has cooled off, and the sun starts to go down. Perfect time to visit the parks. And the hours at the beginniing of the month are longer than the end of the month.
My advise......take advantage of the early mornings! Rest...swim....relax from noon til 4 or 5. then really enjoy the parks in the evenings!!!

Thanks all for the encouragement & support:D I'm sure we will do just fine. It appears we will be in good company.

After the weather here last week (it was 101 at our beach club:eek: ) I guess we will manage.

Thanks.

Laura

It's so true, what many of the posters have said. I remember thinking last summer that it was so hot and humid in the Northeast that it would have been better to go to Disney then and takeadvantage of some of the great codes. Have fun!

Thanks, this was going to be one of my questions. We are planning on going next summer in July or early August. I was worried about the heat but summer in Kansas is very hot and everyone is right. I would rather be hot in DW. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!

A hot day at WDW is still 100 times better than ANY day at work!

Like the others have said sunscreen, lots of water and wear a hat for some shade and have a ball!
