What the hell is going on with Tower of Terror...

So found out what happened. Apparently, sometimes in Oct 2017, a lightning storm stuck the Tower of terror and one of the sides completely vanished. The CM are trying to find the missing side, but it has been a mystery ever since. They closed that side down and it has been abandoned ever since.
Those with FP are invited to take a tour on the other side. After waiting in line for a long time, dare if you can, to ride, the TOT.....

Happy Halloween y'all........ :)

We rode it yesterday at ropedrop (after reading this thread and worrying re our FP's - its our favurite ride) and even though there was a wait time posted of 45 mins we had been on twice by 9:30am - not sure if they are posting inflated times to discourage people. Definitely only one side operational though.

Have FP for ToT today too so will see how that works out.

I rode it on FPP Sunday when the standby time was at 135 minutes. There were only 2 elevators It was definitely a weird ride- there were some lights on in the drop tunnel that aren't usually on and the doors at the top didn't open.

I wonder if preparations for the new nighttime projection show on the outside of TOT have something to do with this??

I watched a vlog yesterday and they showed scaffolding up on the outside of ToT pretty high up. I wonder when that work started and if it coincides with when wait time shot up for ToT. If that work does have to do with the holiday projections and it is what is causing increased wait times, hopefully this work is a one time thing they need to do for future years.

Ouch, just checked app wait times right now, 11/2, 11:40am, RnR is at 25 minutes and ToT is at 125 minutes!! The projection show prep would make the most sense.

Any news about ToT? It looks like waits are currently 45 minutes for ToT and 80 minutes for RnRC...is ToT fully operational now?

Based on the wait times, it looks like it. And the passholder preview of the projection show starts this weekend, so it's starting to look like the two things are related after all.

I wonder if the scaffolding is down from where it was on ToT. Maybe they stopped running the lifts that would have people lookout and see scaffolding before they dropped haha.

I'm assuming this issue won't be fixed by the time we are at DHS on Saturday. Luckily we've got ToT FP for Saturday morning so hopefully we can ride without much issue.

By the way, anyone have any recent experience with ToT at Rope Drop? The current plan is to ride RnR then ToT at RD, then ride again with FP. In past years we've been able to ride multiple times at RD with minimal or no wait, but sounds like that may not be doable now.

And my daughter's favorite rides are Splash, which is closed while we are there, and ToT, so this is pretty irritating.

We typically do this, in fact did just that on a busy Friday in October but it was before the wait times started spiking up.

We got a free FP and used it yesterday around 6:00 to ride ToT. We walked right up to the entry room and were probably on the ride in about 15 minutes. They were operating only one side though, and standby wait was around 80 minutes. RnR and Toy Story standby were only about 45 minutes.

We were there 10/31 and it was about 45 minutes when the park opened, we had FP for 2:15. Went by it a few other times and it was up to 90 and 120 mins. When we entered for FP we were told it would be 30 mins for FP and hour+ for standby, but it was the last thing we wanted to do before hopping over to EPCOT for the evening. Wait was more like 20 minutes than 30. Not terrible, but a bit long for FP. No one had ridden it before though so we stuck it out and loved it!

We were there today

EMH - ride it 2x in a row - we were in the first elevator out, got right back on when we finished, standby was 15 minutes

Both rides they were only running the far 2 elevators

FP+ used at 10:25 - posted standby 45 minutes - after the dark room, we went out to the interior queue and it was backed up all the way - they were attempting to run the other 2 elevators in the section - wasn’t working right they unloaded one and lots of phone calls- they then went back to using 2 elevators - posted standby had gone up to 105 minutes - it took us 22 minutes once in the interior line to get assigned a row in an elevator - when we were waiting to load, they were once again starting to use the other 2 elevators- posted standby was still 105 when we came back out

I noticed wait times jumping all over the place for ToT today

I think the elevators may have been coming in and out of service

Also, today they had part of sunset boulevard closed for holiday special taping - the sets and equipment were in the street - you could only walk on the sidewalks on the upper portion of the street - the only way to get to sunset Blvd at 8:00 am was backstage area - and that sign stayed on the street

They may have been limiting access to the Blvd during actual filming, so wait times may have shown as artificially low at some points during today

Yep, after a good start this morning, it looks like it's back up to double RnRC's wait. :(

ToT back up to 120 mins today with RnRC at 40??? Is it at lower capacity again?
