What the heck's going on in December?

Anyone know of any special events going on around December 12-17th? Disney's website is showing all four value resorts booked, POFQ booked, and I couldn't get a dining reservation for California Grill on -any- of those nights.... I called and they confirmed this to be the case. I thought that time frame was slow???

Isn't that when MouseFest is happening?

Mousefest. It is also a very popular travel time for DVCers, given it is a "cheap points" season and all the Holiday decorations and festivities are operating.

It may also be the tail end of Pop Warner.

Honestly, the biggest problem is that the night of the 13th is sold out all over property, except, last I checked at some suite at AKL that is several thousand dollars a night.

Pop Warner events soaked up a lot of rooms. MouseFest has become increasingly popular and is soaking up a lot of rooms. There was a Free Dining promo offered to Disney Visa cardholders, which brought more folks to the parks. If you look at the current room only promo, it starts on 12/14 because that is when Pop Warner and MouseFest are over and they have much more room availability. Getting good ADR's is much harder since they offered the FD promo though, so don't expect to dine at the times you want, you must be flexible.

Sorry, but I do hear that there are lots of people cancelling their ressies because of the economy.

I spoke to Disney again and they also advise there is a large cheerleading convention in town at the time.... *sigh*

Here's hoping the lines aren't as bad as Summer.... Anyone else going to be around at that time?

I am going 13-19th and it was a task trying to get into Pop. I am an agent so i kept trying to switch myself over and everyday checking the dite for an opening. It's nuts. I am kinda worried but being solo allows me to do whatever I want.

The cheerleaders are normally just there for competition and don't get to go into the parks much, so lines shouldn't be bad.

And I'm local, so I'm always here!

It's Pop Warner.
In the beginning they aren't at the parks, but as the competition moves along and teams get eliminated the kids show up in the parks. Yikes.

Well -- my problems with Continental Airlines appear to have an upside after all. That was the week I was originally going to go. Instead, I canceled due continuing flight drama and after a couple of months, ultimately rescheduled for the following week for the $59/night rate. (And the airfare was lower too -- go figure)

The only problem I'm having is I haven't been able to make any ADRs due to the free dining promo. (not a show stopper by any means -- cause I'm not all that fond of eating by my lonesome). Come to think of it -- if any local folk or other GLBT board folk are interested, I'd be more than happy to pop for dinner or whatever if you'd like to meet up. Please let me know.
