What the heck is up with Michaels?

I wandered through M's today and was shocked by their Cricut aisle. Hardly no carts in the case or tags hanging on the wall either. They had a sign that said all $89.99 carts were on sale for either $44.99 (or maybe it was $49.99). I'm thinking online cart sales are killing them?

They just came off of those big sales, maybe with the weather they have not been able to restock completely? My M's had a full case, but no new ones. It takes them forever to get new carts.

Its inventory time for many stores around here. Inventory is always low then so they have less to count. Maybe that's the problem?

Yeah, and the weather delaying deliveries for sure!

Haven't actually walked into mine lately, but as a retail lifer I can tell you it's the Feb-Inventory cycle. The less that has to be scanned--the less problems that arise.

I have a basic non-seasonal apparel department, and my stock is beyond low. Add on to that the snow--well trucks are just backed up beyond belief.

I asked the cashier at my local store and she said that they were told by head office to wait until ALL stores had mostly the same number of cartridges before putting them out because in the past some stores were sold out before some even had their stock in and Provo Craft had trouble filling the orders never mind the reorders!!!!
Now I don't know if this goes for the US stores or just the stores here??

The girls at my M's like to blame things on PC, when really it is just Michael's. They told me that PC would not allow them to use coupons on their products but when I went to another M's they took the coupon. Granted it was not easy, but they did it.

Wow you can use coupons on cricut merchandise!!!! Here you can't use any coupons. I have even had cashiers try to scan them but they don't work

I had one from a fundraising coupon book that did not have the "No Cricut Products" disclaimer. They did not want to take it, but in the end the manager agreed that he had to. Needless to say, out of all the stores in my area, that is the one I shop at the most because that manager is so great.

PC doesn't allow the coupons. Alot of companies (PC included) try to make things somewhat *fair* or at least more *equal* for the individual retailer to be able to compete with the chains.

The Michaels I work at has clearanced out alot of stuff all over the store. Not only is it inventory time but CHA just happened so they are getting rid of :last years models" for another store rest. My manager that has scrap booking as one of her departments said that she should be resetting that section next week.
