What the heck is going on first weekend in Nov?

Just called to try and book a long weekend (11/3 to 11/7 - studio) at any DVC resort. The only ones with availability are OKW and SSR! The others had various combinations of 1 or 2 nights, but not all four! Am I missing something big going on that time of year?? I booked OKW (which we really like, but wanted to try different), and waitlisted at BCV (home) and VWL. We'll see what comes through....if anything!!!

That's during Wine & Food festival, which perhaps is the most popular time at BCV & BWV. You probably need to book closer to the opening of the 7 month window to get studios at the Epcot resorts.

I think it also coincides with Jersey week...or is that the 2nd week of Nov?

Duh! {slaps hand to forehead} I wasn't even thinking that it was the last week of F&W....so of course BCV would be difficult. I was so excited over Southwest finally releasing their November rates, and that I had finally convinced DH to go on a much-needed anniversary weekend, that I wasn't thinking straight!! WDW trips can do that to me!

Well, at least we'll be able to experience some of the F&W festival....have never done any of it before. (yay!)

From what the fine folks over on the trip planning boards report, Jersey Week is the second week in Nov this year.
I have a studio at SSR during the first week of Nov, couldn't get into the Epcot resorts , and didn't feel like waitlisting. I am just happy to be there!

Cant wait for F&W! haven't been in 3 years!

Yep....we had trouble last year booking as well. I wanted to switch a 1 bedroom at OKW to a 2 bedroom at OKW or any DVC resort at 60 days out (had holding points I wanted to use). Last year, this was Jersey Week as well as F&W. I had to waitlist.....then called day by day in the final week and nothing ever showed up. OKW was at capacity the week we were there, as were all the DVC resorts I believe.
So Sammy....count your blessings you got a DVC room ! Had you waited another 4 weeks or so to book you probably wouldn't have gotten anything. Fingers crossed for your BCV/VWL waitlist though

Here's another perspective...it's New Jersey week...all public schools are closed that week on Thursday and Friday...it's an absolute madhouse. Last time we went that week we bumped into 11 people we knew from home!!!!

november 7-12. There are lot of people going the weekend before 5-13. there is only two days of school that week. the convention is actually thursday and friday so the last weekend will be the most croweded when the teachers can actuallly get out of school.

Jersey week, now that is enough to keep me away. Go to Aruba it is Jersey week/NY/Boston week year round. You'll find out how fun that can be.

We are one of the lucky New Jersey school districts that are off all week. According to our school calendar, school will be closed Nov. 7-Nov. 11. It is like our whole neighborhood heads to Disney. It actually gets a little quiet around here. We usually go in November but this year we are not going until early December. We were there last November, this past May and will do one more trip in August. Still from November 7-11, my kids will be whining that everyone is at Disney but us and it's just not fair.

We usually go the week before Thanksgiving, since the parks are so empty. This year, however, we decided to give that week (11/5-11/11) a try, so the kids wouldn't have to miss that much school. I've heard that all of NJ is there, but that other than that, it isn't that crowded. I'm hoping that's the case, although, it sounds like it may be more crowded than I anticipated.

Regarding flights, we booked ours months ago specifically for that reason, and even then you couldn't get a good deal out of Newark. We ended up going out of LGA on Song.
