BOY! It seems an awful lot of people are coming down the 1st week of Dec.!! Is it JUST the pop warner thing or is there other groups too? earseek: Supposingly the cheerleaders are staying at all star sports and CBR (or is it coronado?) Just how many school kids will be in Disney for the pop warner thing? I think they arrive on the 7th of December.

there are several Dis websites that generally have their annual meet in December - it is a great time to go.....or was - if too many people start going - it might not be so great....

I'd like some more insight on what's going on that first week of December also. That's when I'll be there too. :scratchin

We're going over the weekend of the 6th and I've heard of several different groups and conventions that will be on the grounds. As previously mentioned, there's Pop Warner and MouseFest. I've also heard that the Florida Democratic convention is going to be at Coronado. There's also a huge car convention in town, but I don't know how that will affect the mouse. Oops, almost forgot one of the reasons I'm going . . . Epcot will host the Doll and Teddy Bear show that weekend.

It seems as if once again, I might just be coming in during the proverbial eye of the storm! There's a huge crowd before I arrive on the 29th (the whole Thanksgiving week crew), and a huge crowd arriving after I leave (I'm almost afraid to ask what the Pop Warner thing is), but the week in between seems relatively calm (probably because everyone's recovering from Thanksgiving!).

Knock on wood.

knock, knoc, knock

Covention Groups how do they effect disney parks? We arrive Dec 3 to the 7th from reading these boards alot of rooms sold out. What do you think?

We arrive on the 6th of December and went the exact same week last year. The cheerleaders were there last year as were a couple of other conventions. It was NOT crowded at all. The weekends were a little more crowded but that is the case whenever you go the parks always fill up on Saturday and Sunday. According to the Disney website if hotels are sold out, they are only sold out for the weeked of the 6th. I just checked again and almost every, if not every single, Disney resort was available for the week of the 6th starting on the 7th. The Polynesian has been sold out for the night of the 6th for months and and now even that's available. I think everyone should just take a deep breath and stop worrying, I really think it's going to be fine If your plans are made and airfare paid for, what can you really do about it anyway so relax and enjoy.

As you can see from the countdown clock, my dh and I are going to be there that week, so I've come to the conclusion that the parks are going to be empty because they're ALWAYS empty when we go to WDW! :D

Seriously, it's my impression that the cheerleaders do not affect park attendance much. There was a huge cheerleading thing going on when we were there 5 years ago and we only knew about it because we ran into some groups in the lobby of CR. We never saw them in the parks. In fact, we hardly saw anyone in the parks.

This past January we were there during Marathon weekend and even that didn't affect park attendance--it was just more crowded at the resorts.

But those auto collision conventioneers...now I'm scared!

Here's some pixie dust for all of us: :wizard:

We will be there Dec 3-9 and have tickets for MVMCP on the 4th. I wonder what kind of effect all of this will have on that. I hate to have paid that much money if the its going to be just as busy as a regular day at the park. I know they only sell a certain number of tickets, but I bet they sell out if there is going to be that many people around that week.

Thanks for the pixie dust Ga Girl. I too am a bit worried about our upcoming trip. We will be there the 5th through the 12th. I was so hoping to go to the "world" and enjoy a nice relaxing non-crowded time. I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be great!! Hope everyone has a great time!!:teeth: We will be staying at the WL. Hope to see lots of lime ribbons!:)
