Dh and I are having this discussion ( read arguyment) he went to the power website and they suggest that you keep your heat set at 55 during the night. Are you kidding me?????

There is no way in heck that is reasonable!

he now has the heat turned way down to 60 and I am freezing! There is NO way I am going to freeze my family out for a few bucks a month!

My temp. stays at right around 70 year-round. It's perfect in the winter and maybe a little too cool (for others) in the summer, but life's too darn short to be sweaty and miserable all summer long!

In winter, the thermostat stays at 69 degrees.

Heck, It's 15 degrees outside. If I wanted to freeze, I could always step out on the porch.

(And you can bet the goof-ball "energy expert" that suggested-on the website-that 55 degrees is wonderful doesn't have his set there.)

We keep it at 68. It's cold, but I'm cheap so I use an electric blanket, warm socks, and dress in sweats.

But it's not so cold that I'm miserable if I have to get up and do anything.

I don't think I could tolerate 60.

well I just took a piece out of him and turned the heat up to 68. There is no way it is going to 55 tonight I can tell you that much!

You can always tell him your friend Lily said setting the thermostat at 68 degrees is a bargain compared to the cost of marriage counseling.

We have radiant heating in our ceiling, so we only need to leave it on for about an hour at a time and it stays warm pretty much all day long. When it's turned on, it's at about 70 in the living room, dining room and kitchen. Our bedroom is usually set at around 65. We don't even turn the heat on in the bathroom, the other rooms heat that room.

We don't keep any heat on at night, even when it is freezing cold and snowy.

Because of our baby we have it set at 68 right now. We used to keep it around 63-65 before.
No way I'd do 55!

I am a cheapskate and have been known to heartlessly tell my small children "cleaning your room will warm you up" but even I wouldn't drop the temp to 55!

I like to keep it at 68 or so...my husband cranks it up to the high seventies which drives me crazy. I try to keep the house warm in other ways so we don't need the heater as much - heavier drapes over the windows, shutting the doors to rooms that are not being used so the heat stays where we are, and I have this attachment on my dryer vent that blows the air from the dryer back in the house so it's always toasty warm in the kitchen.

I'm still at my parents house for the holidays but they keep it ridiculously low. 60-65 during the day and 50-55 at night. BRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

My mom blames it on her heat flashes.

we actually don't have the heat on at all during the night

or the day either, for that matter....

unless it gets really really cold outside

(like in the 20s)

then we'll go as high as 66 degrees inside

(have electric heating, so it's quite expensive)

use lots of blankets on the bed, wear socks, PJs...

Our a/c is set at 74 right now and if we have a cool snap we set the heat to 70, in case the house cools down during the night. 55--brrr!

The heat is set at 70, the air at 75. Total electric, runs about $150 a month.

Set at 62, but if anyone is cold we use the wood burning fireplace. That gets it up to close to 80 pretty quick ;) .
