What stroller would you do w/ 5 & 2 yr old

Last time we took out 2 Mac's (Techno and Quest). The Techno was way too heavy and bulky w/ carrying 2 strollers and 2 little ones on the busses so I'm ditching the Techno. Loved having the 2 strollers so 1 person did not have the burden and we could get through crowds very easy!

This trip will have almost 6 & almost 3 yr olds.

DS2 likes to walk like DS5 does so is hating his stroller! But DS5 gets tired and like to ride (and then I'm SURE DS2 would ride!)

I guess my choice is .....

- bring the Quest and rent a single

- just rent a double at the parks

- 3rd choice could be to buy another Mac...triumph or something. (put rental cost towards that)

We'll still bring the quest for airport etc.

What have you done w/ kids this age?

Thanks a bunch.

I'm not huge on renting at WDW, but that's because of the type of vacation we take. We do a lot of non-park walking and therefore really need to bring our own stroller/jogger. However, a lot of people don't mind leaving the rental stroller at the park and then not having one for the hotel (we normally stay at BC and therefore we walk back and forth to both Epcot and HS/MGM, so a rental wouldn't work for us....). I see you'll be staying at WL villas. Will you stay at MK late, magic hours, and will both your kids get tired? Personally, when we stay at WL, we plan to let our little ones fall asleep in the stroller and then just push the stroller on the boat back to WL without having to wake them. However, everyone feels differently about that, so you'll have to go with your gut on this one. If it were me, I'd bring 2 strollers from home.

Good luck!

I can't help you, but wanted to say I am in the same situation. Our DSs will be almost 6 and 3 when we go on our trip. So I have to figure out the same thing.

I will not be renting, because I can not stand the thought of 'throwing away our money' on a rental. I prefer to spend the money on a stroller, that way I could sell it or something after we are done with it. I am looking into getting a sit n stand???? I am not sure though? because of the length.... i also thought of getting two Macs???

I was wondering too, if there is any where out there that sells standing platforms to add on to strollers? To add onto our current stroller. If I can help you out after I do more research, I will let you know... Good luck :thumbsup2

We're going in May and my kids will be 2 and 5. I just bought a Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand at Target, on clearance, for $89! I've taken it to the mall a few times and it's really easy to push with both of them in it and it seems comfy for both of them. Here's a link:
http://www.target.com/Baby-Trend-Si...ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k:sit 'n stand&page=1

I don't like the idea of renting a stroller because the kids are usually the most tired at the end of the day. So, you'd have to turn in the stroller and then there's usually quite a hike to the buses or the parking lot.

my kids will be 4 & 2 (may trip). i just bought two mac volos on ebay-- with shipping was cheaper than renting a double for the length of our trip. we figured even if we only used them for the trip, we arent out any money. (we just got them last week and have already used one twice, so i dont think that's going to happen.) they don't recline, but my kids would scream if you reclined a stroller even when they were babies. they're also both over 35lbs, so most other strollers were not choices based on the weight limits.

I'm bringing my Phil & Ted E3! lOVE IT! It's not cheap but so worth it and both kids can use it. It's very lightweight and compact too.

I forgot to add that the weight limits on the Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand is 40lbs/each seat.

Thanks!

We have a Sit-n-Stand and opted not to take it. I loved having 2 individual (and light) strollers at WDW.

After looking at the cost to rent I think I'd steer towards buying another Mac. I'm concerned about the Volo though. I recall having my then 4yr old sit it in and the sun shade hit him in the head he was so tall for it. The volos seems so much smaller. I might check out the Triumph or another Quest.

Plus it has great resale value at my consignmeny place when the time comes. My boys are just very tall (100% on height) and DS4 would drag his feet on the wheels because his knees were up so high when he placed them on the foot strap w/ the Quest.

I think that was my big thought about the rentals would have more leg room?

:confused3

Just more stuff to obsess about!!

My DS5 and DD2 (in May) will each have their own Macs. DD has the Quest- so she can recline and hopefully nap- and DS has the Volo. Everytime we've been to the mall since we bought them DS has had to ride in it. He looks so silly being a husky 5 1/2 yo riding in a stroller, but I'll save my battles for a bigger fight. Anyhow, he fits just fine in his and has never complained about it being too small.

Not so Dumbo: Does it have the sun shade? Is he tall?

I'll have to go back to the store but I know over a year ago when we were looking for the Quest I swear we tried the Volo and his head hit the sun shade. At least I thought it was a Volo.

I'll have to go back w/ him!

I know their requiremenst for comfort are different than ours. I think he looks cramped but he's just happy to have a seat.

We just got back from 7 days at Disneyworld with a 5yo and a 2yo. We took our Peg-Perego Pliko P3 and it worked very well. DD2 rode in the stroller and when DS5 would get tired he would stand on the little step platform on the back. The stroller is very lightweight and folds like an umbrella stroller so it worked out well for us, we decided we would rent a second stroller if DS5 needed it but he did not.

i just tried my DD (almost 4) out in the volo we just got. for comparison-- she's 40" and she seems to have about 5-6" above her head from the sunshade. (of course that would vary depending on the childs torso length and not just their overall height... she seems pretty proportional. she does not have long legs.) her knees are not raised at all. we tried them out in the triumph at the store and i didnt really notice a difference in the size between the two. she says it's very comfortable, but she's also never used a stroller before.

I went to Babies R Us the other day and tried my DD, who is almost 4 and 42 inches, in the different Mac strollers. She fit fine in the Volo and Quest. The Triumph seat is smaller than the Volo seat. She liked the Volo the best. If you have an older child, I would recommend the Volo or the Quest. For the money, I think the Volo is great. I don't think many older kids want to recline. My friend's daughter is 6 and probably 46 inches. She fit in the Volo - yes, she looks snug but she said she was comfortable. I'm all for bringing my own strollers to Disney. My kids are too big to carry, even a short distance.

Yes, it does have the sun shade.
You know, I was just going to measure DS yesterday to see if he was tall enough for RnR and I forgot. If I had to guess I'd say he's pretty close to 48" because I was thinking he's about the height DS8 was when we went in '06 and he could ride RnR.

It sounds like you are a Mac fan and I would hate to distract you from a great product, but I couldn't resist putting in another plug for Peg Perego's Plike or P3.

We used our P3 for 3 busy days at Disneyland when DS was barely 2 and DD was almost 5 and it was an absolute dream. We will be bringing it along again for 6-nt WDW trip next week (DS is now 3 and 1/2 and DD is 6).

The stroller folds up beautifully (great for tight spaces and hotel rooms), is fairly light, very comfortable, provides great shade, rides very smoothly and the number one feature I have not found rivaled anywhere else is the footboard.

I cannot tell you how very much the footboard truly came in handy at DL - from providing a nice break to DD so she didn't have to walk when she got tired or when we were in a hurry to get across various parts of the park, to trekking back and forth from our hotel (especially at the end of a very long day) and most of all weaving through some MAJOR crowds in which I am sure my DD would have otherwise been lost or trampled. All she had to do was step on and away we went. It was a lifesaver.

I know Macs are great, too, but they don't have that footboard....which has certainly been the way to go for my family. I don't know what we would have done without it. Not to mention that it eliminated any need to haul around a second stroller everywhere we went.

Just thought I'd share my little "secret." Best of luck with finding something that works for you and enjoy your trip!

Do both the Pliko and the P3 have the footboard? How do these fold- flat or umbrella like?

That's just how I feel about my P3! :rotfl: Another nice feature is the shade canopy pulls wayyyy down so if they are sleeping, it really shuts out a lot of the commotion.

It folds up umbrella-like. Here is a photo of it folded up on the Disney transportation bus:

I don't have a photo of DS riding on the foot board thingy. :confused3

We love our Pliko P3 - this is our standard stroller for DD 3 and DS1. I've actually had my dtr and her friend (both petite) both stand on the footboard (proabably went beyond the rec. weight restriction) and was able to easily push the stroller. DD is able to stand on the footboard even if the seat is slightly reclined. We will be taking it with us next month and I have high expectations! It really does fold up very compact.

I have a Pliko P3 and I loved it, but now I am looking at buying a Maclaren Quest because my Pliko, after 4 years, has seen better days. It has suffered so much damage on the airplane. I don't know if you have a stroller bag or not, but I highly recommend you use one - I did not. the first time I gate checked the stroller, one of the clips that raises and lowers the legrest broke. One side just hangs down. I was devastated. It has had several other things crack or break on subsequent trips. Maybe I have bad luck, but I hate for anyone else to have their stroller abused like mine, especially if it arrives damaged in Orlando. Not a happy start to a vacation.

For those looking at strollers, I loved my Pliko P3. It is a great stroller. I think the recommended max weight is like 40 pounds. If you have larger, heavier, or older kids, I would probably go with a different stroller. My DD3 is now close to 44 pounds and it doesn't maneuver very well anymore. I would get another P3 but I have a ten month old son who is already 32 pounds and 32 inches. He's a solid tank. I'm definitely concerned about weight limits. I'm sure he'll be pretty heavy before his stroller days are over.
