I'm trying to figure out what type of stroller to bring for my dd next week. What I currently own is the Graco car seat and a stroller frame that it snaps in to. My mother thinks this system will be a pain in the butt in the parks and won't be very comfortable for the kiddo. She thinks I need to get a stroller that will lay flat and won't be 2 separate pieces. I have no idea what to expect and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. Has anyone used the car seat + stroller system there? Should I just give in and get a new stroller? Any input would be very helpful!!! :D Thanks :D

I have never had one quite so little there, but for what it's worth....if you are into babywearing of any kind, I definitely recommend a sling/baby bjorn. My youngest was 9 months at her first trip, and while she was in the double stroller with her sister, I found the sling to be invaluable to me. My daughter was so happy to be held, snuggled, kept warm! And I was able to take her on all the rides she was able to do just wearing her - so convenient for both the lines and the rides themselves.

Just my 2 cents :) Have a wonderful trip!!

Snap and Go! For both my girls, I used their infant car seat snapped into a universal "Snap and Go" stroller frame until they were about 5-6 months each. The stroller frame itself is so light and mine had a huge basket underneath and a cup holder for me up top. Very easy to fold up too.

They have them at Babies R Us, but I'm sure you can find one on ebay or craigslist too.

Congrats on your little one!!

We took our dd when she was 3 1/2 mos old in 1/08 and I took her Graco stroller that fully reclined (without using the car seat). We had the car seat because we used it on the plane, but I didnt want to have to cart it around the parks and I knew DD would be uncomfortable in it for most of the day. I knew she would be more comfy to be able to fully stretch out. We also had a sling to use for her and that was great too. I agree with your mother. Figure out what type of stroller you are going to want for your baby once he/she is out of the infant seat and go ahead and buy it for your trip.

If you're going to go with the Snap n' Go, it would be a good idea to bring a sling along, too, or at least make it a point to carry her whenever possible.

It's never a good idea to keep a small infant in a carseat for long periods of time when not in a moving vehicle. The position that the carseat places the child in is hard on the hips and back, and does not allow much leeway to be able to freely turn her head.

A 2 month old might just be more comfortable in a carrier of some kind. I would suggest a wrap carrier that goes over both shoulders. It can be worn by different people throughout the day and is much easier to deal with in crowds. When my daughter was 20 months I had her in a front carrier at WDW and I carried her right through the line and onto the ride like that. It was great, she had a great view, it was easy for me, she napped when she wanted to and I still got to ride the rides. For a 2 month old it would be ideal, just pop her in there and let her sleep or watch or whatever with no having to get in and out of the stroller and no worries on the rides, totally secure.

Plus, I always liked the carrier when mine was really little because I felt like it protected her a little better from weather, and messes and crowds. Strangers on the street (we live in NY, big crowds) would sometimes try to touch her when she was in her pram :sad2:, but never in the sling. I guess then they would have to invade my personal space too and most people won't do that. When I was carrying her I was hands free and hands-off!

Ditto! Our childbirth educator stressed that you should not leave a baby in a carrier for more than one hour at a time, even in the car. Not only are they constricted in movement, but it's not good for their circulation either. I would bring a larger stroller that allows baby to stretch out or take lots of breaks where you can hold DD in your arms and let her stretch out.

we would use a graco stroller that we bought. something large that the bottom can flip up to form a wall so the baby doesn't slide down.

for a 2 month old, I'd go with a stroller where they can face me while I push. With a child that young, I don't like them being out of my view, even if I am pushing the stroller. I think the child will enjoy being able to look at their mommy too, during their stroll.

You might like the Bumbleride Flyer Stroller, and it comes in some really cute color combinations!!! I wish I would have known about this stroller when I was pregnant with my 16 month old. I definitely would have purchased it! http://www.bumbleride.com/collection2009/flyer-action.php#

My recommendation would be a peg perego aria they are really lightweight and great for baby and travel. Depending on how much you are willing to spend the entire peg line is good one. Maclaren technos are suitabe for birth up. I agree w/ the posters about not using the carseat and snap and go it is not recommeded I would look into a sling/carrier that you can use in lines and while riding buses if you plan on taking the buses. Another option you can go w/ is renting a baby jogger city mini from www.orlandostrollerrentals.com or you could purchase one. Check out craigslist and even ebay.

If she likes being in car seat - I would be bring your current stroller/car seat set up - babies that small like being in the car seat and bring a carrier. 2 months is alittle small to have in just the stroller part. You will have plenty of time to buy a new stroller when she gets older that will be more lightweight and easier to use. I have the Joovy Kooper for both of my kids and it is a great stroller for Disney (and other times) - it folds like an umbrella stroller, holds them until they are 55 lbs (lots of Disney trips), lays down flat for naps and the shade is very big for the sun. Have a great trip.

I agree here - I have a Bumbleride Flyer, and love it. My daughter is 3 months old now and I've been using it sans carseat for about 6 weeks. It lays completely flat, and she loves that I can turn it around so she's facing me.
