What "special things" happen for a honeymooning couple?

I have heard that some restaurants do some pretty cool little things for honeymooners. Anyone have any comments on this? I would love to see what little surprises are going to blow my DF's mind! (He can't get over the "magic" of Disney after his first trip last year!):wizard:

Most of the special things that happen with Honeymooning couples, happen back at the resort, after the day at the park, and are not really appropriate to be discussed on a family board.

We were there for our honeymoon in July. Make sure you get the buttons and you tell them its your honeymoon when you make your dining reservations. We had all kinds of great things happen to us! Besides every cm congratulating us! We got several free desserts and free champagne at the restuarants. We got balloons and a card in our room. At California Grill, they sprinkled our table with mickey confetti! However, the best surprise of all did not come directly from Disney. One night we were eating at Nine Dragons and while we were waiting for our app's to arrive we were holding hands on the table. Well, the family next to us (all adults) noticed and the father teased us saying "oh come on you two" and laughed. My husband laughed and said we had just gotten married at Disney 3 days ago and it was our honeymoon. They all congratulated us and we made small talk and then went on with our meals. Well, they finished first and said goodbye. When it was time for our bill, the waitress brought out a bill with just our dessert on it. The family, who was from West Virginia, had secretly paid our bill for us! They even tipped her! They didn't want us to know until we were done eating! We tried to find them afterward but couldn't. I just didn't believe that there were people out there like that. That is the magic of Disney, you never know where it can come from!

When celebrating at DW it can be hit or miss, so don't count on anything. Usually a few restaurants offer desserts or a glass of champagne, but not all do.

We went back in Dec. for our belated honeymoon. I had it on all ressies and only got a cupcake and a dessert plate from Boma.
But at WCC we got champagne and free desserts, also because the manager had heard we weren't treated special at other places he placed a call to our hotel and they put together a balloon bouquet and a couple really nice gifts.

This is good advice!

This is true too...

In my experience it is completely dependent on the CM. Some will go above and beyond to help make your experience special and some may not have the authority to do so.

It is important that you don't get your expectations up too high. If there is anything in particular you know you want, your best bet is to reserve and plan to pay for it yourself (there are a lot of 'little extras' you can do/schedule/plan for your honeymoon - segway tours, Illuminations or Wishes cruises, other special tours, etc).

As mentioned above, definitely tell the CM's when you book your reservations that you are on your honeymoon, wear the pins (free at guest services at the parks or at your resort), or if you feel particularly adventurous, wear the wedding ears.

Have a great time and congratulations!!!

Agree with everything the previous posters have said. When we went last May 2009 and stayed at the POLY for our Disneymoon we got a lot of congratulations and a few free things here or there. We got free pretzels in Hollywood Studios, free mimosas at the Sci-Fi Drive In, free confetti/cupcakes at character meals, and a free dessert at Teppan Edo. Not anything major, but it was nice to have a few little bonuses here and there.

Have fun!

When we checked in at CSR, they gave a coupon to use anytime during our stay for a free champagne toast at one of the bars at the resort.

A lot of restaurants will do complimentary desserts, but we were on the DDP, so we only got two special food things during dinner - a cupcake at 'Ohana and salted chocolate/sugar covered peach treats at Yachtsmen Steakhouse.

I don't think if this is because we were on our honeymoon or just luck, but when we were at 'Ohana, they had us wait a little past our reservation time to get a table, and sat us next to a window facing MK, and we had a great view of the fireworks that night. That was one of the highlights on our HM.

DH and I stayed at the GF on our honeymoon, 1st anniversary and last year for our 11th. All three times we have had a rose and champagne left for us for our first night there.

We have stayed at AK or WL for most other anniversaries and have had a balloon and card left a couple of times, but it has been hit or miss.

For both our honeymoon and anniversaries, we have received desserts and champagne at most of the better table services restaurants for dinner.

DH and I had a 7-day Disney honeymoon, staying at GF and using DDP. We wore honeymoon buttons and told all the phone-reservation people and hosts/hostesses/servers about our honeymoon. We also wore bride and groom Mickey ears, so it was really obvious it was our honeymoon!

We did not get any free desserts or champagne at any of the restaurants, even the signatures, so don't automatically expect it! Narcooses and Coral Reef did print out special menus, though. Unfortunately, I had made the reservations so the menus had the wrong last name on them (Mr. and Mrs. my-maiden-name).

On the other hand, we got an upgrade to concierge level at the GF and they gave us champagne and roses :)

We were married in Disney in November 2008. Our first day when we went to DTD to turn our AP vouchers in for our AP's the wonderful CM working at Customer Service that day gave us two vouchers for free Mickey and Minnie bridal ears. We had planned on purchasing these anyway but how nice it was to get them for free. I know most brides say their DH's do not want to wear the ears but my DH never wanted to take his off.

Dinner with Cinderella the night after our wedding.

We also got a few desserts, balloon and card in our room a few fastpasses and lots of congratulations.

Mostly we got a bunch of congratulations. We also got celebration desserts or cards lots of places. However, we were on the Dining Plan, so we got desserts anyways.

At CRT they sprinkled our table with confetti. We were also seated at a Table at the very center of the room, which put us in the center of the action. My DH didn't appreciate it as much as I did.

Sci-Fi Dine In gave us a card signed by the staff.

Tusker House and Ohana each gave us a celebration cupcake, which was funny because we ate at both for breakfast and they were buffets.

Jikos gave us a complimentary Creme Brulee, but I think our server was confused, because he messed up our Dining Plan redemption. We each got additional desserts.

When me and my husband went to Disney for our honeymoon we got a complimentary upgrade at the Poly from a standard to a castle view room! best memory ever having a bowl of ice cream and watching the fireworks show. Also when we were shopping in the store at the end of test track a cast member informed me I had a phone call at the cashiers desk I hurried over and got the phone and it was Minne and Mickey giving us a congratulations on our marriage then they proceeded to argue about when they were going to have a wedding and Mickey said no wedding but he wanted a wedding cake....lol other than those we got congratulations from lots of CMs

Our favorite memory of our WDW honeymoon was when we were in line to have our picture taken with Mickey at Epcot. We were chatting with the CM who was with Mickey while we were waiting our turn and mentioned we were on our honeymoon, so when it was our turn that CM went over to Minnie's CM and asked if we could get a group picture with Mickey and Minnie. :wizard: I LOVE, LOVE this picture! It was definitely the highlight of our trip. :)

On our honeymoon at CRT they gave us free toasting glasses that said CRT, a card signed by everyone, and sat us at the center window seat.

Def don't expect anything... but tons of congrats! We wore ears and pins. We did get a couple little freebies - a cart let us choose one thing each, celebration cake, magical moments certificates.

Our biggest surprise came from somewhere else too... we were staying at GF RPC and another family there noticed the ears and invited us to join them for wishes on the grand one. It was AMAZING! And we still keep in touch with all of them. We met the nicest people up in the lounge just hanging around during cordials.

I'm going for my honeymoon and May and I'm not expecting anything...but I will be wearing the Minnie bride ears the entire time I'm there! And of course, I wouldn't say no to a free room upgrade! ;) :rotfl2:

We honeymooned for 9 night last June. We didn't get anything for free. We got some generic place mats at 1900 Park Fare. Other than that just lots of congratulations.

Don't expect anything. Just go and have fun. You'll be married and at Disney!

2 years ago we saw this couple who had just gotten married. first we saw them at crt and the cm's made a special fuss over them. but then , later, they were given the chance to watch illuminations from a special location by the dock. that was really special i thought!
