What size memory card to you bring to Disney?

On my upcoming 10-day trip to WDW, I'm bringing:

4 - 2GB Memory Stick Pros (set in Fine mode, each will hold 810 pictures)
2 - 256MB Memory Sticks (set in Fine mode, each will hold about 100 pictures)
2 - 128MB Memory Sticks (set in Fine mode, each will hold about 50 pictures)

Am wondering if it's enough???

Similar. Mine just doesn't have the color screen (or the price ;) )... I picked up an 80G notebook drive for around $60, and the case for about $20. It has plenty of space for the photos, plus it doubles as an MP3 player.

Here's a link to a similar case, but mine has MP3 playback capability.
Image Bank

OH! I like this! After browsing a bit on that web store I saw a few others that also have MP3 players for a bit more, but take 1.8" hard drives. Also saw one that takes 3.5" hard drives. Heck, you can find 100 gig 3.5" hard drives for like $50. So for about $80 you can have a 100 gig external hard drive that also has a built in card reader. SHWEEEEET!

I'll have to look more into this. I tried ordering one someone posted a few months back. I think it is Digimates version. Takes 2.5" (laptop) hard drives, but that model is now discontinued so I'm looking for something else.

Thanks for the post! Very helpful!!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Depends on your picture taking habits.

One a 4 day trip back in June I filled 4 1gig cards. Each held about 330. I went though a little more than 1400. Looks like you have about 3500 pictures there. Thats 350 pictures/day. Again, it depends on your picture taking habits.

by the way, full resolution (640x480x30fps) videos fill up a 1GB card in 7 MINUTES.

For our August trip with our S2, I took 14 gigs total. I had five 2 gig cards from Corsair, OCZ, Patriot, and Transcend. I also had a Transcend 4 gig card which I used for shooting Wishes 640x480@30fps with plenty of space left over. I liked not having to take my laptop and also knowing I didn't have to deleate anything while on site -- I could wait until I got home and view shots on my 20" PC monitor to make the determination which were keepers and which were destined for recycling...

After reading everything here...I think I'm going to bring:
3 2GB cards (2 for for pics and 1 for video)
1 512
1 256

I recommand the higher capacity one. I personally has 2GB card with my current Canon A540 it can take about 1200 pic on it. I don't do video. Even that my family and I are going on a 5 day trip to WDW, I still will get a 1GB or 2GB at least to supplement it since I sometimes take over 400 pictures a day easily. Considering the many photogenic places in Disney I can see myself take more per day. So I'd say take more "film" to WDW is better than not having enough.

I take a ton of photos when I go to WDW. I'm thinking that one 2GB per park would be ok, then use the smaller MB sticks for the resorts.

It depends on you're photography style. On our last trip, we were there for 2 weeks with 10 days in the parks. I took 2500 pictures (large size, full quality)! I didn't bring my laptop and I only had 2.5 GB of memory with me. That only lasted about 3 days. So I had to go to Walgreens and burn the pictures to CD on 3 separate occasions (very time consuming). So take plenty of memory (and maybe a laptop). Oh, and most of all... enjoy yourself!

I have a 1 gig card that I carry but I download my pictures on the computer each night. At largest size on fine, I can get about 360 pictures on the card. That seems to be sufficient for each day. :teeth:

It's really amazing how digital changes the way we take pictures.

It wasn't that long ago that a few rolls of film would be a lot to take... I can't imagine even bringing 10 rolls of 36-exposure film on a trip. Now you can easily shoot that much each day, change ISO at will, have instant playback. Ladies and gentlemen, when it comes to photography - we're in the the "good old days" right now!

Although I will be taking my 35mm next trip and a bunch of rolls of film, just because I have a ton lying around! Most of it is slightly past the use-by date, but it should still be OK.

My last outing with film was in 2001. We took a three week trip and I shot 50 roles of mostly 24 exposure film. After adding up the cost of film and development, the price of a DSLR didn't seem quite so expensive anymore.

We have a 2GB Sandisk Ultra II and (will have by next week) a 1GB Kingston Elite Pro - both SD.

We're considering getting another 1GB as well. We'll be in Orlando for 5 days, 4 of them in the parks and plan to take a lot of pictures. The 2GB holds around 660, so I'm expecting the 1GB will hold around 330-ish, giving us a total of nearly 1,000 pics - and we can always delete ones we don't like at the end of the day. Can't afford an extra external storage drive for this trip, but maybe down the road. I like the idea, anyway.
