What size cooler can you take on amtrak?

Ive been reading the web and I see amtrak allows a 12 by 12 by 12 cooler in coach. What about a larger cooler? Can you check it as baggage? Can youi bring it in a sleeper compartment?

Does anyone know? I can't get through to anyone on Amtrak's Julie line.

I don't know the answer, and I don't know if this info will help others answer, but are you traveling by normal Amtrak or on the Autotrain?

Just thought I would report back that the Amtrack customer service person told me the 28 quart cooler would be fine in a sleeper as long as it fit in the carry on size box thing they have in the station.

I think it was a bit big for the room and it would not have fit into a roomette. But we have special food needs and allergies so we had to do what we had to do.
