I started 8x8 and am trying to move to 12x12 but am having a hard time with the transition. Thinking about 8 1/2 x 11 but seems like there's less availability of albums...

I much prefer the 12x12. More opportunity for creative layouts without the photos getting 'lost', more photos per page=fewer pages=less $$$, less paper cutting. My first was an 8 1/2 by 11 and I have a 10x10 that I'm doing a solo WDW trip in, but other than that...give me the 12x12 any day!

For myself I prefer 12 x 12 for gift albums 8 x 8 works is my fav.

12x12 is what I use for my general scrapping. But for gift albums I really like 8x8.
I am very curious about those 11 1/2 by 8 albums someone posted awhile back. I think I would like that size very much too! I never liked when it was 8x11 1/2 direction. Felt I couldnt do much. But in the landscape direction it could be neat!

spinning....at first I was like.....what? and then you added the landscape thing at the end..... :rotfl: guess I shouldnt read posts this early in the a.m.

I prefer 12x12 for me. I have some 7x7 for my sons baseball and such but they are harder to work in. Just did my first ever 8x8 and that extra inch over the 7x7 really made a difference. I will definately use this size in the future for gifts and such.

One tip I found for the smaller albums. If you can print at home, print the extra photos, not the ones that make the page impact in 3x5 size, you can more easily fit them on the page. Also, crop and print some wallet size, they fill in all those small little spots! I do this with the baseball team every year.
It helps me work in more of the photos I take.

My first album when I started was 8.5X11 - a photo album I purchased onboard the Magic and took out the photo pages and put scrap pages in.....and now I do 12X12 for me...I like a page with 3 to 5 pix on it (okay, sometimes 6!)
I look at 2Peas and see those BEAUTIFULLY done pages with single pix but they are more about the 'art' of scrapping, the use of paper/fibers/ink/layering/embellishments.
I love them and 'scraplift' ideas to try and incorporate their ideas into my pages.......
anyway - for now - 12X12 - although I am having fun with my CJs that are 6.5X10

When I do albums for my Mom - I do little 6X6....she likes those!

I always use 12 x 12 unless the album is for a specific event, then I use a 7 x 7.

Most, if not all, of my personal scrapbooks are 12"x12". I have used 8.5"x11" & 8"x8" for gifts.

Spinning, I never thought to turn the 8.5"x11" 90 degrees to scrap in it. It makes sense since most of the photos are landscape.

I prefer to work with 12 X 12's. These also seem to be what people grab first to look at when the come to our house. I have found that working with a 12 X 12 sheet is much more enjoyable for layouts. Gives the creator much more possibilites.

JudithM the books are actually made in the landscape direction.

I prefer 12x12. I won a 8 1/2 x 11 CM album at an open house a while baqck so I decided to use it for DD's Disney album for our recent trip. I am struggling here. Ugh! Too much thinking and not enough room IMHO for pics and fun decorations and journaling. I'm also a "cram a lot of photos on one page" kind of girl. Oh well. She'll still love it.

I started an 8x11 album, but I had a hard time finding pages for it, so I had to start a 12 x 12, I like it much better!!

I started out with 8 1/2 x 11 and then quickly made the decision to do 12 x 12. I do like doing some of the smaller albums though, they go quick!!!! For everyday scrapping though, I do all 12 x 12.

Spinning, I think of the book where the length is longer than the width as portrait - tall, upright. Landscape is horizontal - wider than it is tall. Are we talking the same thing?

I started out in 8.5x11, but was never really happy with the results. When I switched to 12x12-It just worked! My techniques have improved and I feel a lot more confident about the end results.

I did a 6x6-That was rough! I had a very hard time getting it to work. If I want to do a small one again, I would go with an 8x8. I had pages that were 6x6, which is why I went that route. I love the book, but it was way too hard for me to do one that small again. (Although I think if I'd had the pics printed as 3x5s instead of 4x6s it would have been easier)

I'm a 12x12'er...I'm doing my first 8x8 with the DCL CJ thing...and i"m having a heck of a time working with it.
