What single defining moment made you realize...

That YOU were an adult now!


Mine was writing that 1st check out for our mortgage...it was only 8 years ago! I always thought of myself as more mature/grown up than most people my age throughout teen years and early 20's but writing out that check made me realize I was the "responsible" one now

When I had my first baby last April, then turned 27 in August.

when I found out I was pregnant with my first child! I was only 20, and had a pretty care free life before. I had a job, my own place, a boyfriend, we went out all the time, partied, etc. After I found out I was pregnant, I knew I would have to change and pull myself together and be more responsible and mature!

At age 28 when the nurses wheeled my newborn DS into my hospital room and said "OKAY, you are the mommy and we are going to show you how to babe him, and feed him and change him" and I about FREAKED. I was so incredibly embarassed that I had no idea how to do any of this and was 28yo....I learned real quick....June 14, 1982 was the single defining moment for me for sure. But also the greatest moment!!!

btw DS is 24yo. now.

It hit me when I became pregnant with my daughter 14 years ago at age 18. Then 1 year and 2 weeks later (at age 19) I gave birth to my son, whom was born prematurely and has cerebral palsy.

I remember the summer of 1990, I went to target with the intentions of buying myself a Gas bbq grill...

I came home with a charcoal grill and some baby stuff my daughter, and it actually felt good.

Oh that'll be the day I remember! I'm only 15 years young, I feel l still have a few years to go

The one that comes to mind is when I bought my piano. I was 30, married and owned my own home - but somehow buying a piano meant a real change in lifestyle to me.

I bought my 1st house on my own income, alone, at 27 but I felt like an adult much before. For me it was when I was 18 and working a full time job with benefits and was treated like an adult by the people at work.
