What should we expect Sunday when trying to hit Nemo first thing?

Our first day at the parks will be this Sunday, the 24th. We plan to head straight to Nemo. We are already of the mindset that it's okay if we have to skip it b/c my 3 year old won't want to wait in a super huge line. We are walking from the Anaheim Fairfield. What time should we be at the gates and what kind of line can we expect when we get to Nemo?

I am assuming you have more than one day at DL so I would suggest if you are ever going to ride Nemo then Sunday morning might be the best day. Get to the gates about 0730 (If 8am opening) and head down to the rope drop. Go directly towards the mattahorn and depending on the crowd either go right between the mattahorn and tomorrowland or if crowded go round the left side of mattahorn. You should run into the Nemo queue somewhere about the mattahorn/nemo area, from there I would expect only 15 min wait.

Try and avoid going through Tomorrowland unless you are near the front of the rope drop.

how old are your kids?
or maybe you or your husbend.
One of you should run for nemo and since you have 3year old im guessing you will have stroller and stuff. so one run one walk witht he stroller and meet the other in line..
Im thinking about doing it..i can run..but then we miss the walk in to disney land that we love to take in lol

We won't get booed or hissed at if dh or I run ahead and get spots in line? We'll have our own stroller and it'll be just the three of us. Is there stroller parking nearby to Nemo?

I dont think you should get booed you are coming just slower with stroler, and I know alot of ppl who send there fast sprinters ahead the group. Also im sure there is stroller parking i dont know where tho.

My family and I went the past Sunday June 17. We got at the gate around 7:45 and there was already a line. It took about 5-10 minutes to get through the gate. Then I walked quickly to Nemo while my wife and baby took their time with stroller and got a locker. People who were running were told to stop running by cast members spread out throughout Main Street all the way to Nemo. By the time I got to the line we had waited for 1 hour. There was a mass of people at Nemo and for awhile everyone was not sure if we were in the right line since we were all bunched together. We parked the stroller by some tables that are at the restaurant right by Nemo. (I can't remember the name) There were tons of strollers there. I later say someone with a stroller in line. I guess they parked it at a spot where they put people who have wheelchairs since I saw strollers parked near the subs.
The Mickey and Friends parking does not open until 7:30 and we got there at 7:00 and their were lots of cars waiting to get in. I took a chance and went into an empty lane. Of course others followed. I got lucky and at 7:30 they opened the lane I was in. We were on the first tram out and that is how we got lucky just to be at the gates by 7:45.

Please provide your report of nemo when you get back. This is exactly my plan, leave the hotel room at 7AM, get into the rope drop by 730, and then walk briskly to nemo. We are going on the 15th of July.

I was planning on having my husband drop me and kids off at drop off at 7am and he park the car since we have a stroller. This way I can take all the security check point stuff while he parks. Plus, I figured the tram will be easier without a stroller. My question is where is the drop off and how far away is the garage from drop off. Is there signs? We will be coming from Ball Rd.

The drop off is off of Harbor.. Go back up to Harbor and take a left onto Ball rd and a left on Disneyland Drive to the parking structure. The trams are located right outside of the parking structure and will drop you off near the security checkpoint.

We were there last Friday 6/15. Luckily the park didn't open until 9. We got there about 8:25. I was surprised that they didn't have the rope across Main Street. Instead they blocked off each individual "land". The crowd for Tomorrowland and the crowd next to the Matterhorn were HUGE. So we ended up in front of the castle. There was a very nice CM talking to DS12 about the best way to go. She even went to double check that the way she told him was going to be open. At 9:00 they let us go through. DS and friend took off "walking" very fast. He got through Fantasyland with me on his heels only to be stopped by a CM blocking the entrance to the queue. She told him he had to wait until the other group got there. (The group waiting by the Matterhorn, they were being escorted by a CM). Then it was chaos. We worked our way through until we were actually in the line. Then DH and the rest of the group caught up with us. It was probably really funny to watch. But we made it on Nemo and only had to wait about 20 minutes to ride. It was great to say we did it, the ride was cute, but I would NEVER wait 2-6 hours for it! If you intend to do Nemo first thing in the morning...Put on your running shoes!:crowded:

We were there with you mickey7. It was crazy wasn't it. Hopefully they will fix the problems they had with the lines. Nobody knew where to go. We waited about an hour to get on the subs and were also in the lines to get into the park around 7:45. I would say people arriving to the the subs within minutes of us had to wait way more than an hour because there was just so many people coming at once and no one knew where the right line was. My advice is to definately get in the park line way earlier and walk as quick as possible without running. If it is not that important to you, skip it. You can get alot of rides done in that first hour with no waits.

I don't get it...why did the other group get to go first?

Were up at the castle too waiting that morning! We were sitting up at the front on one of the little side benches on the left side. :) Made for a great picture of the castle with no one being in the picture! We did Nemo on Saturday, so that morning we just walked on to all the rides in Fantasyland while everyone else was doing their mad dash to Nemo. :)

This is what WDW does. For the popular rides at AK and Epcot, CMs walk you to the particular ride in one direction. Other directions are blocked (or are so long that you can't beat the crowd even by running them until the first group goes through. There is no doubt about where to go either because the cm's announce what ride they are leading to and you follow them. This is simply good crowd control and far superior and fairer than the chaos reported from the first few days Nemo was open. I for one would like to see that implemented fully. From what's been reported by Mickey Mania, maybe they are trying to do a little bit of what WDW does.

Yep, they had him wait until the escorted group got to that point. Then it was a free for all. The problem was there were people coming from atleast 4 different points of entry. I could not see if they escorted groups from any place other than the one closest to Nemo by the Matterhorn. It may have been a lot more organized if they had. Also, the groups that went in via Tomorrowland approach the front of the line first and had to follow the ropes all the way back toward the Matterhorn anyway. They were the ones ending up way in the back of the line. :scared:

Do you guys think they do the CM walk to Nemo on Early Entry days? That is our top priority of the day next Thursday: hit Nemo first thing as part of our Early Entry. We'll be at the gates at least at 6:30 am and the park will open at 7:00. I know they typically do not do any form of rope drop for Early Entry, but with Nemo I didn't know if they would try something else for crowd control, such as having the CM walk. Just as cannot_wait said, we are used to this at WDW. But it would be helpful if we knew where they wanted us to go beforehand :)
