What should my food budget be?

Off to Florida for 3 weeks in July - one week at Hard Rock Hotel, one at Port Orleans, then a final week at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

There's me, the lovely wife, and 3 kids - 21, 18 and 11 - wife and eldest daughter eat like birds, 11 year old daughter eats like bird unless chips in which case eats like 18 year old son who eats like horse. Make that 2 horses. And I'm probably a pig.

We have no idea how much food is going to cost, what we should budget etc. And Priority Passes - will it be too late to get the hang of these by the time we get there or should I be booking stuff now?

BTW, just started reading Brit's Guide 2003 - what a pearl of a book!

We DH & I have a budget of $130 it includes all meals and gifts, but there is only two of us.

Hi.

It's a bit difficult to answer your question about a food budget as it really depends on where you want to eat. Eating off-site will work out a lot cheaper than eating on-site.

You will see that the Brit's Guide gives an indication of cost in the Eating Out Section.

We will only be eating off-site and have a budget of $100 a day (food & drink only) for 2 adults and 1 child (age 9).

For your tribe, I'd guess about $150 - $175 a day. But, you could easily spend more.

If you want to only eat on site there is an excellent web site called www.wdwig.com. I usually print off all the menus for the places at WDW that we are going to eat at then try and work out what each person might have. That way you get to see what each restaurant serves and how much it is likely to cost. This has always worked for us.
