Ok....we are currently booked in a 2-bedroom at Wilderness Lodge. I was wondering if I should request anything specific? :chat: Everyone here is so knowledgable! Are there any specific rooms that are best? Areas of the resort? Or any good info regarding the resort in general? :confused3

We have never stayed here before and are excited!! :hyper:

Can you see the electric parade at night from a lake view? From some photos online, it looked the upper floor balconies had extremely high walls.

From the map, it looks like some of the rooms are VERY far away from the main lobby. Should I ask for a room closest to the main lobby?

If you are staying in a 2 bedroom, did you request dedicated, or does it not matter? We had 2 guests once and requested the dedicated because we wanted the extra bed in the other bedroom.

This 'best room/best view' is such a subjective thing. Something that I may think is great, you may not like. I have read on these boards people's posts stating that they had a certain view/location and LOVED it, while we had that room before and HATED it.

My suggestion? Go for the smoking request only and get a feeling for the resort and see what you like. Then the next time you can be more informed because you have experienced it for yourself.

It is a wonderful resort, enjoy!

Good idea Muushka! I think my group would like the dedicated 2 bedroom with the two beds. Can I request that with a cash ressie?

And yes, I agree everyone has their own opinion on room views, etc... I am sure we will love it wherever we are!

We've always requested non-smoking, pool view and have always gotten great rooms. Our last visit we had room 5519, top floor. That is a corner room also with a different layout than what you see in the diagrams they give you. Being a corner room it had lots of windows and just seemed bigger to us than our previous rooms (this one is a 2-br lockoff by the way, we only used the 1-br portion, someone else was in the studio). Also we like the top floor as it has the cathedral ceiling in the bedroom too.

All that being said, we have never been disappointed. We always kind of expect the worst, resigning ourselves at being fine with whatever they assign us, but then being pleasantly surprised with what we get!!

Have a wonderful trip!!!

I almost forgot, you asked about the electric light parade. You can see some of it from the pool view rooms, but you're better off going down to the beach to get the full view. In 5519, our balcony off the living room was fine to sit and watch it, but the bedroom balcony had the high walls you were talking about. You can't see a thing if you're sitting down.

the entrance to VWL is in the middle of the building - near the elevators.

so if you want easy access request near the elevators.

now there were exit doors that allowed getting out closer to the lobby - but there were steps...

I know members can request the lock-off, so I don't see why you shouldn't be able to! I would do it ASAP though, because those rooms go quickly (or so I have heard). I'm sure you will love it also. Good luck and let us know how your vacation went.
