What should I know about CR?

We just booked a last minute family trip to celebrate my husband and I reuniting. To make it special for our DD9, we are staying at the Contemporary MK view because she loves that the monorail goes through the hotel.

Since this is so last minute, I haven't had the time to really research things and the CR thread is sooooo long. I am hoping you all can provide some highlights of the resort and things we don't want to miss there. We are WDW veterans so I've got the park stuff figured out.

They have a walkway to the Magic Kingdom, your room will come with full size balcony, if you request an odd numbered room then your beds will be in the direction of the Magic Kingdom, the Contempo Cafe is one of the best Quick Service locations in all of WDW, when their Buses share with the Polynesian the Contemporary guests are picked up 1st and dropped off 1st and when you watch Wishes from your room if you put on channel 20 it will play the whole music for it.

I am such a planner that it kills me to have booked a hotel without researching it first, so I have just over a month to figure things out.

I haven't stayed at the CR (yet!!), but it's on our list. The monorail, the walkway, the MK view--you can't go wrong! Will you be eating at Chef Mickey's?

Here is an extra I always love. . . you can request turn down service for any room at the CR. Just ask at the front desk. At night they come in, turn on lights, turn down your bed, leave chocolate on the pillows and empty your trash.
