anyone can give me a brief lecture on this?
and how long for the induction?
thanks

First of all - buy the book and read the first 3 chapters. It's easy to read, and will give you all the rules of induction to get you started.

Here's basically the first 2 weeks: unlimited meat and eggs, some cheese, 3 cups of salad veggies per day, "real" salad dressing (stay away from French and Thousand Island), heavy cream in your coffee, "real" sour cream, and lots and lots of water! :)

The book lists the legal veggies for the first two weeks, but basically they're: lettuce, green beans, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, asparagus, pea pods, radishes, mushrooms, etc. Stay away from carrots, peas, and any other veggie that tastes "sweet".

Those 2 weeks are the hardest, but after that you can start adding in more carbs in the form of more veggies, some berries and nuts, and a low-carb treat once in awhile.

Good luck!! :sunny:

I agree..don't start without reading the book.

Good luck!

just bought 4 bookes ordered from amazon
will read it
anyone has great result with Atkins?
how long? how much did you lose?
thanks

I'm on Atkins, just finished my second Induction. With Atkins and 6 months of ALOT of cardio and strength training, I have lost 17 1/2 of the 20 pounds that I wanted to lose. You do have to remember that it takes more then just Atkins to lose weight. You must exercise or results will be slow to none at all. Also in the beginning, don't only weigh yourself for your starting weight, but measure yourself also. There will be times when the scale is not moving (going through one of those times right now) but you could still be losing inches. It is very easy to get frustrated when the scale isn't moving, but you can be dropping those inches like crazy and not even know it unless you measure. Good luck!

I've been on Atkins (this is my second time around, the first time after I lost all my weight I thought I could go back to my old ways of eating....very bad idea)... A total of 3 years now.

During Induction I eat lots of egg, tuna, chicken salads, grilled fish with homemade tarter sauce. I drink my coffee with whipping cream in it (this fills me up). When I come to a point in my diet where I'm gaining weight or I stop losing I go back on induction. It seems to kick-start it up again.
It really does work if you eat low carb under 20 grams a day or just 20, and no real sugar, just sugar substitute like splenda etc.
You really have to read labels because sugar is hidden everywhere under different names such as Dextrose, Glucose etc. That's where reading the Atkins Book comes in handy.
There are so many yummy low-carb books out there now and recipes too!
Food Network has a great Low Carb Show on as well, I think it's called Low Carb and Lovin it or something like that.

I lost 50 pounds in about 8 months on Atkins. No exercise at all, except to get up from my desk and get coffee! LOL!

But, exercise is definitely good for you, and is recommended in the Atkins book. ::yes::

Every body is different though. Remember, the more you have to lose, the faster it will come off. As I get closer to my goal, the weight comes off much slower than it did at the beginning.

Hi I have been on atkins for 3 months now. I have lost 32 pds. Believe it or not I have stayed on the induction phase for the whole 3 months. ( i think i'm a little scared if i increase my carbs i'll stop losing) One of my favorites for dinner is a hamburger pattie topped with grilled onions, mushrooms and red peppers with shredded chedder cheese and a side of broccolli. When I get really craving sweets I have a sugar free rasberry jello with whipped cream or just a coffee with equal. It usually does the trick. I agree with everyone buy the book. It becomes your bible!oh and excersise, excersise, excersise!:bounce: :Pinkbounc
