What should I do? 1 park or 2 park pass?

This will be the 5th trip to WDW for my son and I (I feel like I should start with "Hi. My name is Amy and I am a Disney-holic."). :lmao:

We are arriving on 12/20 and leaving Christmas evening. John is 15 and wants to go to Universal. Being a Disney-holic, I told him we can go for 1 day. I am thinking Saturday the 22nd will be designated as "Universal day".

Question - should I get the 1 park pass or the 2 park pass for each of us? Having never been there, I don't know if it's doable to go to both in 1 day. But I don't want to miss anything! What to do? :confused3

Also, we are staying at the Dolphin. Anyone know how much it costs to get to Universal from Disney?

Thanks in advance!

if its his first time then i would get the 1 day 2 park cause both parks have must do rides like us has the mummy mib and ioa has the hulk dd and spiderman and as far getting there from disney I have heard its about 40.00 one way by taxi:scared1: but you can try places like mears transport and might be a whole lot cheaper.
hope this helps and give us and ioa a try I think you will get hooked ( I know we did )

You should just buy the 7 day pass for $86. Click on the Dreams Unlimited link at the top and you'll see it. That way you can go to both parks and you can go for more than one day. We went to Disney the past 2 years and last year we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel for 2 of the nights of our trip. My boys (9, 12 and 14) told me we should have spent the whole time at Universal. They loved it. The oldest two liked it more than Disney World. I'm a Disneyholic like you, but I have to admit Universal was a lot of fun. The 2 days was not enough, even with the front of the line access we had for staying at Hard Rock. So this year, we are going from the 20th to 26th and staying the whole time at a Universal resort. You might think about that. Your son would like it.

If we go more than one day though, I will have to pay for the transportation more than once... Do you think we can do both parks in one day?

It's going to be tough during that weekend as the parks will be busy...not as busy as after Christmas but busy all the same. I would never recommend doing both parks in the same day...there is simply too much to see to rush it. But...since you only have limited time, I would get there at opening and purchase the Express Passes to help with the lines. The EP's will be expensive though so keep that in mind but the wait times should be less than the stand-by lines.

Thanks for the tips. Which park is more fun for a 15 year old who loves rides then? Islands of Adventure? I wanted to see Jaws...

If the 15yo loves thrill rides and coasters, do IOA. Jaws is always fun but it's at the Studios along with ROTM...he will love that too!

We used Sunray Transportation. Round trip from our disney hotel to universal and back was $60. I found that to be the least expensive, but that was for the 5 of us. For only two of you, a taxi or mears might be cheaper, but I'm not positive.

I asked my kids and they both said just do Universal the whole time! Tickets are cheaper, that's true (unless you already have a Disney annual pass). They also said they like Islands of Adventure because of the Hulk and Dueling Dragons. But they also like the Studios because of Men In Black and the Mummy. Tough choice as to which one to do. Your son would probably like Hard Rock Hotel too.
