What should I buy when in Florida?

WE are going for the last week in November and first week of December.

You all know we don't have the same neat products here that they do in the States. What should I buy?

So far I want to buy the Nestle Tollhouse Christmas shaped sprinkles. They are like colored chocolate chips in Christmas shapes I think.

Anything at Bath & Body Works...Love that store - all my friends know that when they go to the State, they HAVE to buy me something. It's a general rule.

Also, Victorias Secret - if you like lingerie - Best store for that, and the people who work there are SO helpful.

Check out the different chocolate bars - they don't have coffee crisp and their kit kat is different.

Actually, look at any of their junk food - some of it seems like it is way out in left field.

Oh the Sweet Pea - It is wonderful, isn't it? Their Peony is really nice too. Victorias Secret lotion and perfumes are really nice too. I really like Dream Angels - Divine.

We just moved back and funny I cannot think of a thing?? Let's see, some of the stuff I used to buy on a regular basis.....

My kids never liked the toll house cookies with the coloured shapes, they have easter eggs and hallowe'en versions to. Since they were always on sale I'd buy and end up taking off the shapes. They are not really chocolate chips but kind of tasteless candy. Oh well!

If you like sugar free drinks, try the Sugar free Tang powder in the canister. It's usually with the other powdered drink mixes. We had to bring a case full for DH when we moved back!

I'm sorry but the US chocolate bars aren't as good as Canadian. The chocolate is waxy. We can usually get all they have, so I'd just take a peak and move on.

I love the individual sized canned goods. I miss them here. Small cans of 6oz tomato sauce, canned veggies, etc.

The Pilsbury Doughboy section is usually amazing. Every kind of bisquit, rolls, etc.

Try the minute maid diet drinks in the 12 pack cans or 12 oz bottles. They have Mango Tropical, Guava Citrus (tastes like Grapefruit) and Raspberry along with the pink and yellow lemonaid. They are only about 5 calories per can and I love them (I hate diet drinks) Also try Coke Zero. New no calorie coke version, which I also like.

Also, check out the spray butter. I think it's "I can't believe it's Not butter" spray. We use it on corn, potatoes and popcorn. It's hard to get here, if you can.

Hormel microwave bacon is a favourite of DH.

DVD's are much less money in the US, even taking into account the exchange. Watch for sales if there are any you are looking for.

Bath and Body works is great. The liquid soaps are great and the kids ones we love. Love washing my hands and smelling like banana's!!

Yankee Candle is good too. I know we can get it here, but the selection is far greater at the actual store.

If you have a pre-teen daughter - check out Limited Too. DH's fav. store!
The Discovery Store is a fav too. Neat things there.

TJ Maxx is a good store for clothing. Kohls is worth a visit.
Don't forget to check out Target.....it's my favourite "I can't get out of there without spending $100. store" :teeth:

Is this a shopping vacation? ;)

If you have any ?'s let me know.

Welcome back Yzma! I haven't really been on lately, but glad to see you made it back ok. How were your ventures down south? Did you miss Canada?

Thanks ChisJo - good to be back, sort of!

We are all settled back and enjoying getting re-aquainted with Canada, although we were back 2-3 times per year. This is home it's nice to be close to family and friends again. And we really like our new home and area we are in.

I will really miss Georgia and funny enough DH & I were discussing the possibility of retiring there! We made a lot of good friends and the people there are so nice. It's truly a great state and a wonderful place to live. I really got used to the "suthurn charm" I'm sure we will be regular visitors.

The "sort of" refers to the weather. I HATE the cold. I'm finding that it's already too cold for me and it's still in the 20's :cold: I'm going to be really ugly come January/February. :cold: The thought of coldish from October to April really freaks me out even though I grew up in it and lived here most of my life. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get over it. Wear a sweater, eh? (see, once a Canadian always a Canadian... :teeth: )

Sorry for hijacking your thread Eeyorelover......if I think of anything else available in the US that is not here I'll post :)

B&BW coconut lime and verbena is my favourite.

My family always picks up a few bottles of Aleve when they go.

Oh and I will be looking for the extra large Ziplock bags that I keep hearing about (2 gallon bags I think) since I can't find them here!

I am addicted to bath and body works! They have sales in june and jan, so I allways plan a trip one of those times!

I think Target is allways a place to check out if you are in the states....It looks like a zellers...but it has sooo much more! Check out the bedding (shabby chic!), and the kids stuff is really great too.

Me too. What I'm really missing, though, is the scrub. I've been out of that for way too long.

I'll be in Orlando next week and I have an entire day dedicated to TARGET! And I'm bringing a couple of extra empty suitcases to lug all my purchases back home.

Oh yes, I forgot about those. They are 2 1/2 gallon Hefty ziploc. Ziploc used to make them as well, but they were hard to find. I stocked up on them before we moved, and I still have a couple of boxes.

BTW they are great for packing. I used them all the time. With the kids I put an outfit in (shirt, undies, socks, shorts) and put the dirties in afterward. Or I used them to pack socks, undies and PJ's, so much easier to find in the suitcase if they are in their own little package :goodvibes

I just thought of something else. They also have "holiday" ziploc's in the sandwich size with hallowe'en and christmas on them.

They are great for individual Xmas cookies or treats for school.

Mrs Butterworths Syrup is our thing to buy in the US other than that there really isn't anything they have there that stands out for us.

I just have to say that this thread is great! My boyfriend is from Ontiario and I am from Michigan. It's hilarious to go shopping either over here or in Canada becasue there are so many things that are different. I make him bring me Becel margarine and the really low fat miracle whip from Canada and we exchange that for cheddar cheese triscuit crackers and other stuff that he can't find over there. It's fun.

I'll never forget the first time that he went to Meijer with me over here and we actually have a whole aisle and a half full of beer/wine/liquor! He was flabbergasted that we can buy liquor at the grocery store almost any time that we want...don't have to go to The Beer Store or LCBO.

Sorry - An american on a Canadian trip planning board isn't right...I just love all the differences between us!!

HAve fun on your trips

You're always welcome to stop by. We don't mind at all.

This is our first trip where we will be staying off site and not doing the parks eveyday. We are staying at Summer bay. Where does eveyone go to shop?

I must say that when I'm travelling to Canada on business...

I love the candy bars (esp Coffee Crisp & Aero - nuthin' like em in the USA!),
butter tarts (sounds so gross but they're so good), the nymo bars (sp?) - I have a real sweet tooth! I started out hating, then grew to love Swiss Chalet restaurants! WHo knew the sauce was addictive! I also love the Cdn accent which I hear on everyone! (previous thread)

What I miss is Dunkin Donuts coffee -(yes, I've heard about Tim's - but to me, doesn't cut it), good steaks and prime rib joints and hearty portions (food tastes rather bland to me in Canada -brings to mind a volatile thread from the past), and the Keebler line of cookies.
