WS is a nice way to let other "see the rest of the world." Of course, they can't put every country there. I wished they had temporary attractions. This is one thing that I don't understand. Of all the attractions at WDW, WS would be among the oldest because it hasn't changed a bit. Don't get me wrong, but I love the Norwegian pavilion and the German pavilion is accurate enough. Still, I want to see something new. If I could change WS, my choices would include (in no particular order):
Australia - I'd love something with a real feel of a place like Sydney or even Alice Springs where you can feel the Outback. And oh, you MUST serve vegemite and wallaby at the snack bar!
Holland Of course without the Red Light District and pot houses! They could make it look like the countryside where you see all those windmills and women walking in their wooden shoes.
Sweden Contrary to popular belief, every country in Scandinavia has a different feel. If they shut down the Norwegian pavilion, I would replace it with Sweden. (Putting in an Ikea does NOT count!) I would pattern the village after Malmo or Stockholm and maybe have a restaurant that serves genuine Swedish dishes, especially pickled herring (the Swedes cannot live without it!)
Switzerland They could make another replica of the Matterhorn and show some simple Swiss villages (I've been to a village called Stein am Rhein. It's a cute, picturesque town that would fit most visitors' perceptions of a Swiss village). My parents live in Zurich but it would be difficult to replicate the cosmopolitan feel of such an old city so a smaller town would be much easier. Of course, Disney must serve fondu and have Sprungli open up a chocolate stand! Despite its multicultural background, there do exist clear differences when in certain geographic regions. I would prefer a Swiss-German theme. The Italian and French-speaking parts of Switzerland feel a bit too "watered down" to make a better impression.
Belgium Ive been to Brussels and, although its one of the youngest major cities in Europe, it still has that old world feel. And they should have a Belgian chocolate maker there to compete with the Swiss! The architecture would awe most visitors as well. In downtown Brussels, I saw the town square and it some of the buildings were black because they were so OLD! I bet it would make for a very interesting picture-taking tour too.
Malaysia - I would love to see what it's like to have a city like Kuala Lumpur smack in the middle of Florida! And they could put up a replica of the Petronas Towers to complete it.
Are there any other countries youd like to add to WS? Maybe if we get a nationwide petition running, we can get Disney to consider this. I would replace the Mexican and French pavilions because theyre so typical that I didnt even stay longer than a few minutes in each the last time I went.
