hey,,dh and are going in June.We plan to hit AK and MGM and possibly park hop to MK and EPCOT.....and the chances are VERY high that we will ride the water rides.....I always wear jeans(HATE my legs) and DH will prolly wear shorts...so I am prepared to have a wet rear,,,but what about our feet?if we do tennis shoes and socks,,,,,,wet smushy shoes!!!!!but flip flops, sandals wont work so well with all that walking,,,,what do you guys do?

If you're going in June and want to wear pants, try khakis or chinos. Anything NOT made of denim. When denim gets wet, it stays wet -- it'll take forever to dry in the humidity. Wearing something lighter weight would be more comfortable from a lot of different standpoints.

As for shoes -- a lot of people like Teva sandals. But you can wear the regular running shoes or sneakers. Just pack a zip lock bag in your "park bag" and put your shoes and socks in before rides like Kali River Rapids. They have a section in the center of the ride vehicle specifically so that you can store stuff you don't want to get soaked. In rides like Splash Mountain, your shoes won't get so soaking wet that you'll be squishing all day.

I usually wear sneakers, and have never really had a problem getting my feet wet on rides. The only time my shoes have gotten wet is when I've been caught in those wonderfull Florida downpours. Just wear whatever you will be the most comfortable in.

Jeans in June?? Good luck......

I recommend Keen's. They are really comfortable and waterproof. They come in sandal styles as well as clogs and shoes. You can find a good selection at www.zappos.com

Hey, F1Julie, which Keen's do you recommend? The site you recommended looks great, but there are so many styles! Are you talking about the sandals? Thanks in advance! :flower:

I have the Newport H2 sandals. I love them. I also have a pair of Seattle's (mary jane style) and some clogs. They are all comfortable, but the Newport's are my favorites. They are a Disney must for me. Everyone I know that has a pair loves them. I used to be a Birkenstock girl, but Keen's are more comfy and waterproof.

When we rode Kali river rapids at AK a few days ago, the CMs would not allow anyone to take off their shoes, only your bags, cameras, etc could go in the waterproof bins. My DD14 got wet on the ride, really wet, a wall of water fell on her, I was sitting next to her and barely had a drop. She had on jeans and a sweatshirt and we had to immediately exit the park so she could go back to the resort to change. Her clothes were like a sponge. She did not have a poncho on but with that wall of water, a poncho would not have made much of a difference We usually drive and have both a towel and an extra set of clothes in the car for each of us when going to AK and riding the Kali rapids ride.

I would recommend wearing a good waterproof sandal, I bought Nike's several years ago and save him for Disney.

The "water" ride in MK, Splash Mountain does not get you as wet, you should be fine no matter what shoes you wear.

The main thing I would suggest is to switch out different shoes different days and treat blisters before they happen when you detect a hot spot. I use the Dr. Scholl's blister pads (I carry these and bandaids in mypark bag).

I second the Keen's - I wear the Mary Janes, but that's cause I'm a princess! princess:

They are slightly larger (the toebox is big, cause rubber doesn't stretch like leather!), and while I may feel like a cartoon character sometimes, my feet NEVER hurt!!

Toes up for them!

Having several pairs of comfy shoes and switching them out daily is good advice!

I keep older sloppy tennis shoes for hot Disney...feet swell and bigger shoes tend to be more comfy. but I also wear flipflops. Living in Hawaii for many years and wearing them...even on the 25 mile trek through Haleakala..makes walking around Dis easy...unless you are traveling with kids who like to stomp on your feet!

Flip flops are so lightweight...I guess you could put them in your backpack and switch before going on one of the waterwet rides.

I wore really, really thin bottom flip flops to AK the first day I was there and went on Kail River Rapids. My feet and the sandals dried quickly, however my feet were killing at the end of the day - I would have had the same amount of support if I would have worn nothing on my feet!

I agree with the other posters, bring flip flops to keep in a backpack or a locker.

Other than that I usually buy a pair of tennis shoes with the open backs because I love the way they look with capris and shorts.
