What section of Polynesian to request?

Any reasons to pick particular sections at the Polynesian?

We will be staying in a standard room - first time at Polynesian! We like being close to food & transportation. If there's a nearby hot tub, that might be nice too. ;)

Really, we're just looking for people to chime in who, based on experience, think certain places are better than others... and why.

We love Samoa. On one side is the feature pool and on the other side is the Oasis Pool. It is conveniently located near the GCH and is close to the bus stop. We've stayed in Samoa three times and love it!

If you read through the Poly thread, there are arguments in favor of every longhouse with standard rooms.

For your needs, I'd say probably Samoa or Rarotonga.

Samoa is great, location and views are very good for a standard room. It is also very popular, so you need a backup. We used to request Tokelau until it went DVC, now I like Aeoteroa and Fiji for their closeness to the Great Ceremonial Hall (Main building) and boat dock to Magic Kingdom

We had a standard second floor room in Samoa and we couldn't of been happier. We had a great view of the Lava Pool and it was literally steps away from the lobby and restaurants.

On our last trip I requested Fiji, 3rd floor, marina side. We got Fiji, 1st floor, marina side. We had a room right by the exit of the longhouse. It was literally a 30 second walk to GCH and the pool. We could look out from our balcony and see the entrance to the pool.

ETA: We requested this because we heard Samoa is very popular and requested often. We wanted a higher chance of getting what we wanted.

Samoa is our favorite as it's just steps from the GCH, both pools, Captain Cooks, and the beach. With that said, I don't think you can go wrong with any location as anywhere at the Poly is great, IMO :).

Exactly! We had second floor Fiji right by the elevator in March. No balcony but I don't care as the gnats are a nuisance. The slider is fine to open in the morning and we don't sit outside much as we're usually on the go. Perfect location. I had requested it again for this coming weekend and for October before I changed to CL at BWI. Want to catch the newest version of the Star Wars fireworks at DHS and want to be close to EPCOT this time and in the fall for F&W.

I orginally put in a request for Samoa but I decided to switch to either Fiji or Rarotonga because of the views with King beds. Depending on how many people are sharing a room you may consider going for a DVC studio which includes two bathrooms. Also take into consideration the location of GCH, TTC, Dock to the longhouse. Most people like Samoa since it's near the center of the resort and a short walk to everything.. I think the longest walk is 6 mins from Fiji to TTC which is still less of a walk than the Contemporary to MK.

We've had standard rooms in Rarotonga and Fiji and love them both! If you really want to be close to the hot tub, request Samoa.
