Does anyone have any advice on what sandals or slip on shoes are comfortable to wear walking around the parks? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's been cussed and discussed here quite a bit. The best thing any of us can tell you is that is really is a matter of personal preference, because everyone's feet are different. Here is a list of brands that come up the most for discussion:

Teva's: first because they are my personal preference, but no otherh reason

Birkenstocks: never worn some love'em, some don't

Nike (usually the straprunners)

(don't know much about these last three)
Ecco
Merrell
Chaco

I don't want to start a debate here, so pls. take this in the spirit in which it is intended which is to be helpful.

Many years ago, in a previous job, I had to help someone research accidents at amusement parks (not necessarily Disney, just amusement parks). Some of the incidents involving toes and heels were pretty grisly, and the common denominator was open shoes. At the time, I could not figure out how those accidents happened.

About 2 years later, I was in MK with DD and DH, and the woman in front of us in line at Pirates was limping. It was a long line and we struck up a conversation. She told us that the day before she had been rushing to get into one of those moving vehicles at the Haunted House, slipped, her sandal came off, and she had bashed her foot between the car and the moving sidewalk. It was not a serious injury, but still I am sure it put a damper on her day. At that point, I finally understood how those accidents could happen -- and I went back to our hotel and put my sneaks on!

Both my mom and I wore them for 8 days and never had a problem. They have 2 straps so they don't come off. Best part I only paid 40.00 for them at the Sport and Shoe Center. I live in sandles from May to Oct and I had been dreadding replacing my dressy comfy ones that I've had for 5 yrs (yes I paid a lot for that pair) Forget the dressy end and I lived in these straprunners for Sept and Oct last yr. They dried fast on Kali I could play in the fountians with the boys basically never worried about them. I'll be buying another pair this yr so I can leave one set in the camper. Good luck it's definately a well debated topic.

Tevas! They are strapped on pretty well so I don't think they would come off even if you run in them, which I have. They are also really compfortable. I always bring them in additin to my most comfortable sneakers.

I love my Teva's because they can get wet without causing any discomfort or damage to them.

But nobody seems to realize that some people (ahem) have narrow feet and WE want those neato sandals, too!

I love my SAS sandals! Have worn SAS exclusively for about 9 summers now!

We love Teva's in this family! I just bought a leather pair from REI clearance and they are fantastic!

I've tried both Nike Straprunners and Tevas. Got serious blisters with Straprunners. No problems at all with Tevas...like walking on air.

i have worn my well-broken in doc martens to the parks and they were so comfy!! no blisters, and my feet were only sore from the walking i had done, mean my feet were just tired. as for the straps, they are strong, and doc martens are made very well. i know they're not walking shoes, but they were comfortable enough for me.

I asked my Podiatrist and he said don't were sandles. There is nothing to absorb the sweat. As a result, you will probably get blisters.

I will cast my vote for Chaco's. They have a similar footbed to the Birk's, but it won't hurt them if they get wet. I wore them every day last July at WDW without a single blister. DD's that wore sneaker's had blisters though.

Teva's would be my second choice just because of the water proof factor. I love Birk's, but I am always concerned about getting caught in the rain with them on.

We have Tevas for the whole family ready for our summer trip. They are so comfortable and love that you can get them wet.:D

Another vote for Teva's. I just bought my first pair a couple of weeks ago - DH has sworn by them for several years. I love the fact that they are adjustable at the heel and toe.

For Men Sandals I would have to say the Eddie Bauer Fisherman Comfort Sandals

I Cannot say this enough... if you like teva's you are going to love Chaco's. I guide rivers in my spare time and this is the most comfortable active sandal "hands down" the Continuous strap system cannot be beat, and with your choice of Vibram souls or 5.10 rubber you can't go wrong. Also you can choose width and arch height!!!

If you are looking for a comfy casual sandal I would go with Birkenstocks! their New sandal line "Tani" I think, is amazing!

The best sandals for men and women are Mephisto, they are incredible. Hands down the most comfortable shoe ever made. My husband loves the Mephisto "shark". You can buy them on Amazon.com under Nordstrom. They are expensive $275.00 per pair but well worth it.......your feet will thank you as you will never get a blister or sore feet.

We're a Nike family. We all have narrow feet and being able to adjust both straps makes all the difference.

No matter what kind you choose, the key is to have them well worn before you go.

I wore Teva pretty ruggeds every day for 7 days. No blisters, feet tired from walking, but whose wouldn't be? Could get them wet, etc. no problem.
