What room is this? - Wilderness Lodge

I agree that it would be nice if it were a bookable category, but what would make me sad about it is that I bought fixed weeks in Studio with Tub rooms specifically to give me a shot at getting this room layout. If they made it a separate category, it would mean I no longer had a chance of getting that room with my FWs.

Wait you have a fixed week in a Tub? Like its written in to your contract or just noted on your profile?

Reason I ask is I had went through the buying process of CCV Fixed Week Studio and it was never asked.

Yes, I was asked which type of Studio I wanted, and it is written in both my contracts (I have FWs for Week 47 & 48).

Under "2. Ownership Interest Purchased"
"PURCHASER's Ownership Interest is a 'Fixed Ownership Interest' and has a 'Fixed Use Period.' This means that beginning January 1,
2020, PURCHASER has the right in each Use Year to have a Studio Tub Vacation Home Type automatically reserved (the
'Guaranteed Reservation') for PURCHASER's use during Week #48 (the 'Use Period') using all of the Home Resort Vacation Points
allotted for the applicable Use Year."

and in the DEED:
THE OWNERSHIP INTEREST INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING FIXED USE RIGHT:
Beginning January 1, 2020 (the 'First Fixed Use Date'), the right (the Fixed Use Right) to have a Studio Tub Vacation Home Type automatically
reserved for use during Week # 48 (the 'Owner’s Fixed Use Period') using all of the Home Resort Vacation Points allotted for the applicable Use
Year.

We were originally going to guarantee a walk in shower because we prefer that style of shower, until we learned about the alternate studios and that they are in the tub category. Thankfully, we learned about it BEFORE we signed our contracts!

Is it not in your contract?

I ended up cancelling my contract (for now back in July) but:
Mine actually states Studio Tub

I didn't even think anything of it until you said something. Maybe thats all they had left though possibly. The guide might have not really known either.

I feel bad but this is yet another thing against him that has me questioning getting a different guide. I feel bad because I did cancel the contract and he has been really nice.

That is an unbelievable studio. Unreal!! I wouldn't be surprised if Disney did not try to make a bookable category for those rooms. (if that was even possible)

It is possible. But I think they didn't for a couple reasons.

1. Problematic to have a category like that with fixed weeks. 5-6 lock offs, 2-3 dedicated. Total. So only one studio or 2BR could be sold in any given week.

2. All demand is for the studio. Demand is not equal for the 1BR. So it isn't like AKV Club where people will grab the 1BR if available.

3. It would be walked. 365 days a year. And people would be surly.

So back in 1994.....when it was just a regular hotel, my family stayed in one of these rooms. They were some sort of suite you could book and the bedroom contained two queen size beds so you could sleep up to 6 in the room.

It's always weirded me out too and yeah, our fixed week is deeded as the Walk-in Shower. But that's how they show up in the online booking tool on DVC, so it means they are separate booking categories, so that's why it has to be deeded that way. When we bought our FW, our guide actually called and asked if we wanted a tub or shower, and I was very much "Well, I didn't expect to answer this question today."

I'm very curious what prompted DVC to make these separate booking categories.

Probably because families with little ones have a strong preference for tubs and would likely be upset to be assigned to a room with a walk-in shower. This was, everyone knows what they’re getting right from the start.
