What room categories are NOT available for cash?

We need to do one night with cash (or rent points) since we're short points. I think I remember reading that you can't book BWV boardwalk view or standard category. Does anyone know if you can book AKL value? I noticed MouseSavers.com has prices for that category (and AKL concierge!), but it seems like they will be high demand for members. And how about OKW Hospitality?

I've heard they don't guarantee the 2 bedroom w/2 queens at BCV for cash.

I have not seen any quantitative information but weekend days would be your best bet since they seem to book up last and you would save the most points. It is unlikely to get any high demand room, which is typically fully booked by points.

Do you know how it works, though? I want the 2 reservations linked. The 25% discount would be great, but not a deal-breaker. Since I own at AKL, can I call and book both at 11 months or are cash rooms not available at that point?

I have not heard of any restrictions at AKV. You'll need to ask MS.

Cash reservations at BWV do not break down by view. You get whatever is available when you check-in. An open boardwalk or standard view would be unlikely.

This is true for reservations made through CRO/WDWTC. This is called "Run of the House". There is no chance (IMHO) that a CRO/WDWTC customer will receive a Boardwalk view unit unless they book a Grand Villa. MS occasionally sends a Grand Villa to the cash side. All BWV Grand Villas have a Boardwalk view.

Member Services will not book Boardwalk View rooms for cash - even if the member already has a points reservation for the BW view category and wants to remain in the same room. My understanding is that MS will not book Standard View rooms for cash, either.

However, there have been a few reports (not recent) of members being able to book the SV category for cash. I have not heard of any BW view cash reservations (viaCRO/WDWTC or MS) since the BW view became a booking category.
