Okay, I normally skip putting my two cents into a lot of threads, as others may have already stated my view. However, VMK is "messing with my feathers" lately, so it's time I made that two cents work a little.
[RANT is on] I have had quite a few people on VMK suggest that I apply to be a CL. I do so enjoy helping people out, (personal fave: helping the ones that are down to looking for their last few hidden mickeys) with the game. I have flatly replied "NO WAY", as I will not have myself 'tethered' with this nondescript title!
Where does VMK 'get off' by granting this title as though it were a 'carrot on a stick'? Other than the badge, and 'CL_' in front of the title, all I seem to see and hear, is horror stories! Being hounded to be friends on vmk, having no relative clue about VMK events and goings on, not being able to adequately answer questions due to verbiage restrictions, etc.
VMK (Disney) should have, from the beginning, established a 'job description' for this title. I know they have explained to the CLs about their rights/responsibilities and lack of perks with it, but there should be a portion of that description that identifies what VMK's responsibilities are to those CLs. Where is the part about treating all of them fairly? When there are to be meetings, can these not be scheduled ahead of time, and notice given out a day or two in advance so that more might be able to set aside time for a meeting, and plan to be there? How about asking the CLs for their input on FAQ, and providing those answers in a section of the homepage, such as, just what scores it does take to achieve certain awards/prizes? Now that would go a long ways toward avoiding the need to break the verbiage restrictions! Doh! Hey, can you say, "Guest, please read the (ie) game prize part of the home page"? Too simple an idea huh VMK? There are a lot more situations like this I could go on about, but I know you already are tired of reading this, so I will move on.
I have about 10 CL's on my friends list, and I am glad I knew them before they became CL's too, as I might have been perceived as being one of the 'hounds' attempting to to simply 'be friends with a CL' like it was a status symbol! (Okay Mal, you are an exception, I did not 'know' you other than here on DIS before friending you, but I do know you know me well enough that it was as a friend, not for your 'CL'. Hey, AC rocks!)
So, thanks just the same VMK, but 'no thanks'. I will continue to be myself, and help out others without the 'burden' you seem to want to inflict, on these most kind and generous CLs you have. [RANT is off]
