What rides or shows do not allow filming?

I know there are a couple of rides that do not allow filming. Just wondering what those are. I have a minature camera and minature video recorder that I can do all the filming I want and they will never know.

Don't count on it. I've heard lots of stories from fellow castmembers about their experiences finding people who are filming. One person even said the camcorder in question was roughly the size of a computer mouse (i.e. not very big)

Well actually you really "technically" can get away with it with the newer smaller miniDV camcorders. I have one myself and before I go I just put black tape over the red record button. I just put it on my lap. You can have your camera, you just cant record. If you just make it look like you are just sitting it on your lap then you are fine. There are very very few rides you cannot film on. However you cannot use external lighting on MOST of them, so close your LCD viewer and either just aim by direction or by using the eye viewer. If you are trying to not get caught though, just lay it in your lap or somewhere and just shoot, don't aim through using the LCD OR the eyepiece.

However, like I said, most all rides you can at least film on, as long as you dont use external lighting.

I know one that does not allow filming is the Universe of Energy in Epcot.

The Haunted Mansion exhibit didnt allow it either.

I dont remember if you could film in Philharmagic, I doubt it but it wouldnt matter as without glasses it's blurry.

Isn't the Great Movie Ride in MGM no filming also? I may be mistaken though.

maybe it's changed but on my last visit to the ride in March of 2004 filiming was fine. I had my camera held up just fine and it was obvious. However, no external lighting is strictly enforced. You can video though, no flashes.

Please do not sure you camera on Hall Of Presidents. Before you enter the ride you are told not to use them unless you can look though the eye hole. Meaning no view screens. Well some people dont like to listen. After many complaints from behind him the man continued to use his video camera. I am not sure where a CM was in this situation.

We filmed the entire ride in 2000. (Through a viewfinder, not the LCD screen).

When we were in the Tiki Room, someone tried to take a picture, and was told by the CM pictures werent allowed, then they got out their camcorder, and CM said, he was sorry, but pictures of any kind werent allowed, and to please respect their wishes...

(I had taken a picture before, with no flash, and felt terrible!)

I guess I'm missing something here. Why would you want to disobey the rules? If they say not to, then I believe you should not do it. I know at the Country Bears they used to allow you to take video, but no flash photography, untill the end. Perhaps that policy has changed. Anyway, why would you want to break the rules? I'm sure the policy is there for the comfort of all the guests. Pleases correct me if I am wrong.

We must have missed the no filming rule on RnRC - but they told us at the end of the ride...... Too late for us, as we already had film (altho it is pretty much just darkness & screaming)

I think there is no filming on Test Track either.

Video is not allowed on Space Mountain. My 'clever' friend 2 years ago tried to tape the ride, and a big booming voice came over the loudspeaker at the beginning of the ride and said "PUT THE CAMERA AWAY!!!" That scared him lolol.

It's not the filming that's not allowed, it's using a light while you're filming. CMs usually don't care if you're filming as long as you have that light off unless they're new or just have made up rules of their own. They sometimes say that you can't videotape, but it's only because they don't want to get into the complications of using a light.

In Millionaire, however, as stated before, there is no videotaping at all allowed.

Well one must first realize why it is being done and why the rules are in place.

When Disney allows video but no external lighting, that is for the respect of other guests so as not to distract from the experience. However, when they do not allow video of any sort......it has nothing to do with the comfort of the guests. Disney, just like Universal has "secrets" and they dont want them getting out. They dont want you filming attractions where the tape can be taken and go back to another company to show and replicate. Companies will actually send people to other places to do such things.
Sure they can still go but, without video it's hard to replicate.

The reason people still do it is because most take video just for their own memories and for many, it's a once in a lifetime trip and they dont want to forget things. I am the type, as well as many that loves to video EVERYTHING and then look back on it later and just smile and remember. When people "secretly" video when asked not to, sure it's not right, but they are not doing it with an evil heart, just doing it because they know the only people that will see it is there family and they want to remember it.

That is so funny!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Be aware that no lighting includes any "night light" setting that puts out an infrared light humans can't see but security cameras can.

Cheers.

i odnt know any not to record but i know you can record El Rio De Tiempo (for the people who dont know its the mexican ride :p) i know this because i dad had the video
camera on all the time during the ride even in the line!! nobody stopped him and i think your allowed to record on test track as the boards have it and i've watched a clearer video to. But we weren't there last year and he recorded it in 2003 so im not sure if it's allowed or not now
