We are going to WDW (hopefully) if I can convince my husband that our 2 year old will enjoy it as much as our 4 1/2 year old will. Does anyone have any specific rides/attactions that he would be able to go on? Thank you so much!

He will be able to go on almost everything. Not the mountains, soarin, mission space...hmmm but everything else... oh RNRC and ToT, maybe Test Track. Depends on his height.

ANYTHING in fantasyland. Actually, it's a much shorter list of what you CAN'T do with a little one. Think...all the roller coasters and thrill rides, but he can do just about everything else. Playhouse Disney Live on Stage is GREAT for little ones! So much fun!

Really, depends on your 2 yr olds height and ability to stand certain rides. We went in May (my DH had the same reservations). He was unable to ride the mts, soarin, and such of course due to height. He loved everything! even the Haunted Mansion (although I brought a glo stick for him to hold when it was really dark--and IT DID NOT DISTURB ANYONE! due to the set up of the cars.) We plan to go again at the end of 2010 and hope that he will be tall enough to ride all the rides (although mom does not ride roller coasters--so I think he will probably skip those as well!

And the baby swap is a great thing for the rides he/she can't ride and your 4 yr old will appreciate it he/she will get to ride twice! :yay: you just let the CM know at the beg of the ride that you need a child swap and they give you a pass to get into the FP line!!

Hope you are able to convince DH; go and have a magical experience
our DS3 still talks about his castle/mickey trip and can't wait to go back!

First things first......Welcome to the wonderful world of Disboards! You'll soon find that we are a bunch of Disney lovin' people!

We've been going to Disney since our son was just 1 and our daughter was 11. He is now 12 and our daughter is now 22. We've been to Disney World a total of 14 times with a 15th already being planned. Even when our son was little, he had a great time at Disney.

Like other people have already said, your 1 year old will be able to do lots of things. Let me see if I can be more specific. I'll start out with the Magic Kingdom and then do the other parks in other posts:

Magic Kingdom:

Main Street:

Walt Disney World Railroad: Great for all ages.

Adventureland:

The Enchanted Tiki Room: This is a sit-down attraction. There is one part where the tiki goddess comes out of a volcano in the middle of the room. It gets dark and a little loud.

Jungle Cruise: Tame boat ride. Great for all ages.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin: Tame carpet ride. Great for all ages

Pirates of the Caribbean: Tame boat ride. The lighting is dim and there are pirates and skeletons but it's really not scary. 2 year old can go on this ride.

Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse: There are lots and lots and lots of stairs to climb. Not scary at all. You'd probably have to carry your 2 year old.

Frontierland:

Big Thunder Mountain: There's a height requirement of 40"

Country Bear Jamboree: Sit down show. Great for all ages.

Splash Mountain: There's a height requirement of 40"

tom Sawyer Island: There is no ride on the island and you'll need to do a lot of walking. But, it's a nice get-away.

Liberty Square:

The Hall of Presidents: This is a sit-down show. I've got to be honest and tell you that it's a bit boring to our family. But, it's a nice air conditioned place to sit down and rest.

The Haunted Mansion: Both of your children can go on this ride but only you know if your children would be scared or not. It's a slow moving ride that takes place mostly in the dark. There are lots of ghosts and spooks.

Liberty Square Riverboat: A paddlewheel boat ride. Great for all ages

Fantasyland:

Ariel's Grotto: This is not a ride. You can meet Ariel in her grotto.

Cinderella's Golden Carrousel: Great for all ages.

Dumbo: No height requirement. Great for all ages.

It's a Small World: Very tame boat ride. Great for all ages.

Mad Tea Party: There's not a height requirement. You sit in teacups and spin around.

Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh: No height requirement. Great for all ages.

Goofy's Barnstormer: There is a 35" height requirement. Zippy little roller coaster that lasts about a minute.

Mickey's Country House and Judge's Tent: Walk through house that ends up being a line to see Mickey Mouse. Not at all scary.

Minnie's Country House: Walk through house. Not at all scary.

Toontown Hall of Fame: Stand in line to see Disney characters.

Tomorrowland:

AStroOrbitor: I don't think there's a height requirement. You sit in little spaceships which go a little fast in a circle.

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin: Even though your 2 year old may not be able to actually shoot at the targets, I think he'd still have a good time. The ride itself is tame.

Carousel of Progress: Sit-down presentation. Can be a bit boring for little ones.

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor: Sit down show. Funny to all ages.

Space Mountain: There's a height requirement of 44" for this roller coaster.

Stitch's Great Escape: Theater presentation where you are strapped in your chair. Can be pretty scary for littler kids. There is a 40" height requirement.

Tomorrowland Speedway: There's a height requirement of 52" to drive. But you and your husband could each take a child and ride. Tame.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority: Very tame ride above Tomorrowland. Nice and relaxing. Great for all ages.

United Kingdom: No attractions. Walk through tour of country.

Canada: O' Canada!:Standing only theater presentation. Movie about Canada.

Hollywood Studios:

Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular: Stunt show. Covered seating. There are some explosions and fire but I don't think it would be scary for anyone.

Sounds Dangerous: Sit down theater presentation. Takes place in total darkness. You put on headphone and listen to the presentation. This is being redone and I don't know what the new presentation will be like.

Star Tours: Jerky flight simulator ride. My son has been going on it every since he met the 40" height requirement.

Honey I Shrunk The Kids Movie playgroud: Great playground for all kids.

Lights, Motor, Action Extreme Stunt Show: You'll sit in a huge outside theater. There's lots of cars, motorcycles and jet skis doing lots of great stunts. I think it's great for all ages.

Illuminations: Held nightly. Again, unless your kids are afraid of the sound of fireworks, they should be fine. The fireworks are a little bit louder than the ones at Magic Kingdom. We never miss Illuminations.

Hollywood Studios:

Animal Kingdom:

The daily parade is great for all ages.

I hope that I have helped you out. We think that kids of all ages will enjoy Disney!

Feel free to ask me any questions and I'll try to answer them. We've gotta convince your husband to book a Disney vacation!

I just took out a book from the library called "WDW with Kids" - there are several like this and they have height restrictions, fright factor, etc. listed for each attraction. Obviously there is much more your 2 yo can go on than rides that he/she can't!

We are taking my 2.5 year old son to Disney in January. He is 36" tall right now and I will expect him to grow another inch or two by then. I plan on taking him on all the kiddie rides and then on the suble tame rides like Pirates of Carribbean, Jungle Cruise, Kiliminjaro Safari, Buzz Lightyear, Midway Mania, etc, etc. Though plans could change once we get there depending on my son's mood.

He won't get on rides like Tower Of Terror, Soarin, Dinosaur, or any roller coaster. I feel those rides are too big or too fast for him. Even if there was a ride in which he met the height requirement, if the rides jolts you quickly or seems very fast or even too scary, then I wouldn't think it is a good idea. You never know how a 2 year old will react to something. For example: At home he may love Halloweeen and seeing people dress up in scary masks, but you could put him on the Haunted Mansion ride and he may totally freak out, because of the dark, the music, the skeletons. Who knows. Toddlers are so unpredictable.

You should jsut play it by ear, I guess. There are so many things to see and do other than the rides also, like shows, meeting characters...

I wish you much happiness and magic while on your trip and always.
