I am diligently planning our first Disney trip for Oct of this year. For now I have just been reading as much on this board as I can in my spare time. Almost all my questions are answered with a quick search, but I now realize I will never be able to send PM if I don't get at least 10 posts of my own.

Sooo...one thing I am wondering about is what rides might my 6 year old be able to go on that my 4 year old will not. We will also have a 2.5 year old, but know she will not be able to rides many things. I am just now beginning to think about what we'll actually do at MK and this was one of the first questions that came to mind.

Ages don't matter, it's all about your child's height. Height requirements for all rides can be found online.

It's more about height than age. There may be a coaster or two the 4yr old can't/won't ride or something that could potentially be too scary (Dinosaur). And there will be PLENTY of things the little one can do. In fact, there are only a few rides she can't do and those are mostly coasters.

Here's a list of height req. http://allears.net/tp/rr.htm

I have a 6 year old and an almost 4 year old and my 4 yr old will be just over 40 inches by the time he is 4. So he will be able to go on almost everything except Space mountain, Expedition Everest and Aerosmith I think. My 6 year old is able to do everything except Aerosmith but some tall 6 year olds may be able to do that

My 4 year old was tall enough to ride everything but rockin roller coaster. He's slightly above average height.

I just measured my 6yo today to see what he couldn't ride so I could prepare him ahead of time....he is EXACTLY 44 inches. I used the handy allears list, and it looks like there is only a handful of rides he can't go on now. Last time we went he was 2, and it still seemed like he could go on most everything. For the rides he couldn't, my husband and I just swapped out who stayed with him while the other rode with the older kids. It worked out great, I'm sure you'll all have a great time!

As other says it is all about height.

My first dd was average and could go on most things by the time she was 5.

My second went the first time at 3 and could not go on many rides, at 4 she still could not go, she was very small for her age. Eventually things became ridable, but it was at a much slower pace tha. The average. So you get a picture, some rides are 48", my second dd is 24 this year and is 4'9", so in this state and many she still is required to be in a booster seat but has a drivers license, I think she was 16 before she was able to ride everything at Disney, my other dd was probably more like 10 to ride everything. My granddaughter could ride everything the last two times we went and she is 8. She was a tiny little preemie at birth, but she has been on the tall side ever since she was 2.

Measure them and if they are close to a point, I would say don't tell them they can go on it, because it has been our experience that the Disney lines are an inch taller than they say.

If they can not ride, ask for a card, that is like a fast pass card for when the child is old enough. We had hundreds of these to use when they finally was able to ride the ride.

Awesome! Thanks. The boys will actually be 6.5 and 4.5 by the time we go in Oct and both are a little above average in height for their age so sounds like we won't have any issues with 1 being able to ride something the other can't. And I just saw something on another thread about child swap which is what we would need to do with our 2.5 year old so guess that's my next area of research lol.

Thanks for the link. Sounds like from some of the other responses that we should not have any issues, but I will definitely measure and verify when the time gets a little closer. My kids seems to hit growths spurts in early summer. That has at least been the trend the past couple of years.

Definitely look at the height requirements and you can also youtube potential rides so the kids get a feel for them. Both my kids are on the small side. When DD was 4.5 she was only 38" and could only ride barnstormer for coasters. She is 6 now and just over 40" now so next visit in 2015 she will be able to ride more. My DS is now 3 and next year when we visit will be 1 month before he turns 5. He's 36" now, so we hoping for 38" so he can ride mine train at least.

I have a child that's 44 inches and one that is just under. There is plenty that my 4 year old can't ride. But I don't know if he'd want to ride because they're "scary" to him.

Mission Space
Space Mountain
Expedition Everest
Primeval Whirl - Neither as the height requirement is 48" I think

He can ride:

Splash Mountain
Thunder Mountain
Dinosaur
Test Track
Barnstormer

Those are off the top of my head. Mission, Space, and EE are all 44 inches. So if your 4 year old isn't 44 inches, he won't be able to go on them. It's all about height. Even a hair's length away from the line will mean he can't ride. :/
