What Rides / Attractions Are You "Retired" From???

The Tea Cups are cute and classic, but their spinning is really insidious if you have a sensitivity. I rode them in April for my son's sake, and actually felt ill for a good 10-15 minutes after getting off. I decided then to never ride them again.

During a different trip, Mission Space Orange made me so ill I actually had to lay down immediately afterwards for about 10 minutes. And since then I've read about what it's like to get stuck in that tiny capsule for 20+ minutes when the ride malfunctions...Uh uh. Not riding that again.

I'm still fine with rides like Dumbo, Aladdin's Carpet & Astro Orbiter. I actually enjoy those as they're peaceful & offer nice views (especially Astro Orbiter). I also like Primeval Whirl. It doesn't spin you mercilessly like Tea Cups or MS, but instead just has some twists and turns.

SHANTI SAID: "The Tea Cups are cute and classic, but their spinning is really insidious if you have a sensitivity."
Well, I'm certainly learning this today!
Sorry to hear the spinning is that bad for you. Yes, if felt that way, I'd steer clear from MS as well - especially given that malfunctions leave you stuck inside. I did not know that.

The Dumbo type rides are indeed scenic and peaceful, wind in your face - rides. But I just have to eliminate them from my must-do's and put them on my I'll catch you when I'm passing through list.

When I was young, it was a matter of bravery vs being chicken to go on the "thrill" rides. Now that I'm an old curmudgeon I realize being tossed around on a ride just isn't my happy place. I think the change happened when DH tricked me into going on a roller coaster that turned us upside down and I came off with a migraine. To each their own.

And I'll never be an astronaut.

I haven't retired from any because they are too much for me too handle. There are a few I don't do because I don't enjoy them (Carousel of Progress, Stitch). Although I will only do RnRC once each trip because the shoulder restraints bother my ears.

I am also 55 and my favorite rides are Space Mtn and ToT and I can still ride them multiple times each trip. It will be a sad day if I have to give them up!

Gotcha! Thanks for your answer! Yes, that was part of the question... WHY? (not just because you can't handle it)
I too retired myself from SMALL WORLD because I just never cared much for it. I skip it every time with no regrets! (I did't care for Stitch either in 2015 and vowed to nix it this trip. But I hear it's now closed / closing). When I did do it years ago, even then I only did it because it's a Disney classic and I felt like the visit was somehow incomplete if you don't do certain rides - just to do them. I stopped feeling that way. Crowds are too crazy to embrace that mindset for a ride that bores you. With that being said, I actually sort of miss it now and SMALL WORLD is back on my list for 2017!

Space Mountain - it hurts my neck & back**
Primeval Whirl - hurts my neck & back**
Splash Mountain - drop makes me sick
TOT - makes me sick

** I do not have any injuries to my neck or back, maybe it's just getting older.

Yes, I too don't have any injuries or health issues. But I think my neck and back area's felt abused. It's just time for it to end for me. As you said.... Age.
Splash and TOT???.... ugh. Too bad. They are my musts! I just heard here on the boards that SPLASH will be closed during my 2017 visit. Major bummer for me!

LOL.
Yes, JDB. You're basically expressing what I've been doing for years with SpaceMountain. I never cared much for it from the get-go. But every year I had to say that I'd done it! I'm just too old for that mindset anymore. I told myself in 2015... "Stop!"
We get do get older and wiser!

TOT. I have only ridden it once and promised the Lord that if I lived through the ride, I would never do it again. I haven't.

LOL. So funny! God Bless You!
It's my favorite of all of the thrill rides. If I don't do TOT, then it seems like Disney would be a waste.
I scream like an insane woman.. but I love it!

Maelstrom, 20000 Leagues, Great Movie Ride, ...but not by choice.

Awww. Is Great Movie Ride closed already?? That one is a favorite for me. Love my classic movies! Glad I got a chance to enjoy it again in 2015 - after a 15 year absence from Disney. Yes, that will be a loss for me it's already closed for my November visit. But at least catching it in 2015 is scratch of that I can toss in my bucket. Going to miss it.

I've retired from Space Mountain @ WDW only for a couple of years now. I have a very hard time getting out at the end of the ride. It's a must do on the rare trips to DL because it is so much easier to get on & off theirs.
I only do TOT, Tea Cups, Dinosaur if I'm with friends who want to ride.
I avoid Winnie the Pooh because it replaced my beloved Mr. Toad and it's a boring ride.
I don't do the water parks and have only been on Kali 2 or 3 times and I also skip Splash. I don't like being wet & uncomfortable.
Also retired from Nemo @ DL because that tide is not built for anyone with long legs. That was a one & done for me. I don't remember 20,000 Leagues being so uncomfortable.

I retired from Dumbo when they moved it from Fantasyland. I loved it to look over the land but under a tent in another space doesn't cut it anymore. Most of the other rides I don't do is due to motion but I didn't ride them much to begin with.

I too do not care for the new FantasyLand location. Moreover, I don't even care for the New Fantasyland at all. Toontown Fair was much more attractive imho.

Yes, I miss Mr. Toad's wild ride.
You dont seem to be alone about SM - wdw vs. dl. Someone else noted the same thing.

Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Dinosaur, are all to jerky for me anymore. Mission space, just dont like it. I can do without Rockin Roller coaster and Tower of terror too. I'm 65 with a bad hip, so, don't need anymore damage done.
Love Splash Mountain, and Test Track. I'm looking forward to doing Pandora, but looking at the seats, not sure if I can get my left leg where it needs to be. Ill have to sit in the test seat first.

For me, Space Mountain. It's way too rough on my back and neck. I also can't do anything that spins. I get immediately nauseous.
This last trip I skipped EE, which is my favorite Disney coaster. I wasn't feeling well that day and didn't want to chance it. As I'm getting older, some rides are getting harder to do.

Well, at least you've had your time with them all. I too love Splash and Test Track.
In a way I sort of can't wait til I get to a point where some of these rides are no longer MUST-DO's. I can relax a bit more and enjoy the sights and sounds of the park. Right now so many of us do so much rushing to scratch off our must-do's.

Splash & TOT are because of my stomach. I have problems with nausea (among other issues) very often & cant tolerate queasy inducing rides anymore. It does suck, but hey, there's so much more I can & do ride!
