Hi

We will be there May 5th-14th for our 1st trip :-) it will be myself & DH & DD 6 (46") staying at AOA FP+ opens on Thursday :-)

I have 3 MK days and 1 day at each HS, AK, Epcot !!! With 2 rest days to enjoys our resort and relax a little :-) but totally willing to add 1 more day of park tickets if needed ;-)

I think in 3 days I should be able to do most of MK ??! so not too worried there ...

But for the other parks especially HS what can I skip and when we get home I won't be too bummed we missed it ?

Thank you Kim

Frankly, Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios have so few rides you really don't need to skip anything if you are going to be there for the whole day.

Epcot is another story. It is very difficult to see nearly everything in one day because there is so much to do. I would definitely plan on skipping Ellen's Energy Adventure unless your daughter is really into dinosaurs. The ride itself is about 40 minutes and is mostly just sitting in front of movie screens. You do get to see some animatronic dinosaurs for about 3 minutes, but other than that it is pretty boring. Skipping it is likely to save close to 50 minutes of your day.

I would definitely skip the energy adventure at Epcot as well.

There are some carnival type rides at AK like primal whirl that might be fun for kids but aren't anything out of the ordinary.

That is an entirely personal question.

My best advice is to look at a list of rides (wdwinfo has one) and see what appeals to you and what you feel you can skip.

I would skip Capatain EO, Astro Orbiter, Circle of Life, Conservation station, Its tough to be a bug, Magic carpets, Stitch, Swiss family treehouse, Tom Sawyer island, Triceratop spin, Turtle talk, Nemo, little mermaid, Wildlife express train.

Now..... with that said

I see you have a 6 yr old daughter..... so, some of the attractions I listed might be stuff that would thrill her to no end!

I will have to defer to a previous poster's suggestion.
Look thru the attractions and see what would appeal to your family.
We love silly stuff like Figment and Carousel of progress, we love thrill rides like Rockin roller coaster and Expedition everest, we love the long hokey things like Ellen's universe of energy and Hall of presidents. We do not enjoy the girly princess stuff. Thats just our preferences

I've seen numerous kids come out of Tough to be a Bug in tears. If your daughter doesn't like bugs (mine doesn't) I would definitely skip that. My daughter HATED that show (I liked it). Dinosaur is a loud, obnoxious ride that isn't much fun to us but you may like. Not much else I'd skip at Animal Kingdom. Most of the rides there are worth doing at least once. Note that you might want to save Kali River Rapids till the end of the day because you'll get soaked.

There's a lot we don't like at HS but your daughter probably would enjoy (like Beauty and the Beast show) so you should just review the ride descriptions. Easywdw.com has a list explaining the rides at each of the parks and rating them on a scale of 1-10. If I were you I'd review that.

There are a lot of things you could skip at Epcot (Captain EO, Ellen, etc.) but again you should review the ride descriptions to determine what your daughter might like.

I think that 3 days is plenty at MK and 1 day enough at HS. Might need a bit more than that at AK, especially if your daughter likes animals. The Flights of Wonder show at AK is very entertaining.

Theses are the rides that we tend to skip unless we are in the mood to see them.

MK
- Stitches Great Escape
- Country Bear Jamboree
- It's A Small World
- Dumbo (unless the kids feel like riding, then DH and I will wait for them at the exit)
- Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor (we usually do this every other trip or when it is raining)
- The Liberty Bell...I tried to get my family on it, but no one wants to take a leisurely boat ride around TSI.
- HoP, once in a while we will go in, but it is not often.

Epcot
- Universe of Energy (will probably go on it this coming trip because the girls want to)
- The 3 Amigos ride (girls will ride that while DH and I shop around the Pavilion)
- Living With the Land (we do this every other trip or if we aren't running to something else)
- Captain EO....been there done that as a kid and once with our own kids and I am fine not doing it again.

AK
- It's Tough To Be A Bug
- Primevil Whirl (or Primevil Hurl as my kids call it :rotfl:)
- Rafiki's Planet Watch
- Flights of Wonder....we don't mean to miss out on it because it is a good show, but we just don't think about it until we are there.
- Finding Nemo the Musical...we did it once and thought it was cute, but we really like FOTHLK much better.

DHS
- American Idol Experience unless it is raining or we just happen to walk by as they are letting people into the theater.
- Lights Motor Action Stunt Show....we thought it was ok the first time we saw it and we just never really thought of trying it out again.
- The Backlot Tour....it is nothing like it used to be before they took half of it away to build the LMAS show, I used to love seeing the old facades of the Golden Girl's Home and the other one that was right next to it (sorry I forgot what the show was called), and a lot of the props graveyard is gone too.

Ride TT, Soarin, and Spaceship Earth, maybe Nemo...skip the rest of Epcot *yawn*

OP said she has a 6 year old daughter. I know everyone is different, but my 7 and 5 year old daughters have Epcot as easily their 2nd favorite park behind Magic Kingdom.

In addition to what you named, they absolutely love:
Mission Space (green)
Living with the Land
Journey into Imagination
Turtle Talk with Crush
Mexico boat ride
Both the Great Piggy Bank Adventure and Where's the Fire inside Innoventions
O Canada! (Circlevision film in Canada)
Watching the garden railroad in Germany
Listening to Off Kilter perform
etc., etc.

The OP will be there during Flower and Garden, which means Epcot will have additional playgrounds and a butterfly house which my kids love.

For me Everest, RnR, and ToT are all skip-able because I don't like rides that drop. Skip-ability is all dependent on each individual person. A favorite ride for one person might be the most dislike of another. I'd take a look at the ride descriptions themselves and decided which ones interest you the most.

My youngest are 6 and 8 and they HATE Epcot. It's boring especially World Showcase. We never spend more than a half a day and it's usually more like a couple of hours before they are begging to leave.

This is so subjective. It all comes down to what you want out of the trip and what you'd enjoy.

Do you or your DH want to ride Rockin Roller Coaster which your DD cannot? What about other thrill / scary rides like Space Mountain, Dinosaur, etc? Without knowing what your DD6 likes, it's hard to come up w a good list here.

Except Ellen's Energy Adventure and Captain EO. To all those who suggested those, well, yeah, those can and should be skipped. Very few rides I suggest an across-the-board skip for and they're pretty much it.

If DD6 would want to ride Space Mtn, Thunder Mtn, or Tower of Terror, then the skip-list is very different than if she would not want to ride those.

Are they fans of Phineas and Ferb? If so, have you done the Agent P Adventures? This was a game-changer for our family. Now we have 2 Epcot days minimum.

I don't intend to be unhelpful, but asking veterans on this Board who have been to every park 20+ times which rides to skip on your FIRST visit is a really, really bad idea. Everyone who is advising you to skip something is doing so because they have already done it. And in most instances, many times. And for every "skip it" recommendation, you are going to get a "don't skip it. That's my favorite" response. You are going to be there for enough days to see pretty much everything, so don't set yourself up for lowered expectations by asking a bunch of know-it-alls what they have done, but that you shouldn't do. (And, frankly, I would recommend adding at least another half-day at Epcot, if not another full day. Take some time away from one of your "relax" days and spend that time in World Showcase. It serves as relaxation in and of itself, but in a different sort of way. What could be more relaxing than Impressions of France, or the American Pavilion show?) Do as much as you can. It is new to you and you have the luxury of time. Decide for yourself. It is far more fun to walk out of an attraction as a family giggling that that was "lame" and that you probably will skip it next time than it is to skip the attraction because a bunch of people whom you have never met told you to skip it. The former builds lasting memories. The latter does not. Trust me on this.

Having said all that............skip Captain EO. :rotfl2:

Being from Sandusky, home of Cedar Point, your kids are probably more used to amusement parks where you are getting tossed around on every ride. I could see why they might be more bored on slower rides.

My kids are from Florida, home of Walt Disney World, so they are more used to theme parks where the rides all have stories and aren't all about maximum thrills. That's probably why they love Epcot so much and could go every day of the year.

Like I said, every situation is different.

I agree with UCFKnight. EPCOT is a different story. You may want to consider two days for EPCOT and take your tour to two days for the Magic Kingdom. Animal Kingdom is also very large.

Even though there isn't as much to do at DHS, you're probably going to find yourself in a situation where you have to make a decision to skip this or that just because there are so many shows, and the way the times line up, it's tough to do all of it without scrambling, and on some days, it's literally impossible.

If I had to pick something to skip at DHS, it would probably be Lights, Motors, Action. It's a decent show, but it's quite long and can drag a bit in parts. Dropping that will free up quite a bit of time.
