What restaurants would you like to see created?

OK, the World has some great restaurants. But there's always more that can be done. If you could build whatever you wanted, what would you do?

My ideas:

1. Put something upscale on top of the buildings at the front of EPCOT (maybe on top of where Guest Services is). It would have to be built so as to not detract from Spaceship Earth, obviously, but I'd like to see something where you can sit by a window and have a great view of the lake and World Showcase.

2. Put something decent in the American Adventure! There are great America chefs and cuisine out there. Leave the hamburger joint where it is, but give me a great American table-service venue.

3. An expensive experience on the old Discovery Island. I realize there are all kinds of issues with the island, but it would be cool to get dressed up, take a boat over there and spend a nice, calm evening relaxing.

4. A tree-house restaurant in the Animal Kingdom. Again, something up high in the trees, either overlooking the savannah or the Tree of Life.

5. I also think the Magic Kingdom is lacking in table-service restaurants. Maybe there's just not a call for it, but I'd personally like to spend the day in the MK, sit down for a nice relaxing dinner, and then watch Spectromagic and Wishes. I always find that when I go with a group of adults, they want to leave the MK for a decent dinner. We never make it back for fireworks. If we eat another hamburger, they all end up irritated and don't enjoy the rest of the night.

Other ideas?

A good counter service place at DHS!!!!

I love the idea about a TS in AK!

I love all of your ideas. I particularly think the MK needs something new.

My ideas:

I think a Brazilian restaurant like a churrasceria would be good. I guess Ohana has some of the same concept with the skewers but I think concept is really fun and that people would enjoy it. There should be a south american country in EPCOT in general.

I think there should be a few more fish restuarants. I know that there is the flying fish and Cape May clambake in the boardwalk area, but are there any good Seafood restuarants in the parks?

I would love a good pancake house. If this were on the boardwalk it would fit in. I always associated a good breakfast place with a beach vacation.

I think they really need to re-evaluate breakfast in general. With the way Disney has designed the dining plan, I think they really have to step up to the breakfast needs at some resorts. Much has been posted about the need for a counter service breakfast option at every resort, but I also think there should be more sit down table service non-buffet options.

I want the Oddessy in Epcot's Futureworld to be a Toy Story place, Buzz would fit right in.......Oddessy is mostly empty anyway, and this could be used for character meals all day long.......

I love the idea of a Tree House in AK.

I totally agree that America needs something nice. Maybe it could be sponsored by the Food Network and have quest chefs?

Also, I would love a really good Gyros.

I would love for there to be an awesome TS resturant in MK that does something special from each of the major films. From the Little Mermaid, crab legs. From Cinderella, pumpkin pie. From Enchanted, pizza and caramel apples. From Snow White, apple pie. These are probably bad examples, but movie (or show) themed menus.

...
It would be nice to see a SA country, but Disney has already approached a series of South American countries but none of them were interested.

I think one of the major reasons the MK will never have great dining is the lack of alcohol. While I realize there are many tee-totalers here on the DIS it should be noted that alcohol is a major revenue source for restaurants. The earning opportunity on food alone is just too hard for most restaurants.

Regional American specialties in the American Adventure--lobster roll, Manhattan clam chowder, cheesesteak, pit beef, Cincinnati chili, low country seafood boil, conch fritters, something Tex Mex, etc.

ETA: Local/regional beers, too!!!!

It would have to be built so as to not detract from Spaceship Earth, obviously, but I'd like to see something where you can sit by a window and have a great view of the lake and World Showcase.: Very cool. I'm sure this would be beautiful at night.

2. Put something decent in the American Adventure! There are great America chefs and cuisine out there. Leave the hamburger joint where it is, but give me a great American table-service venue.: I agree! I can't believe we don't have something better there!

4. A tree-house restaurant in the Animal Kingdom. Again, something up high in the trees, either overlooking the savannah or the Tree of Life.: This would be AMAZING! The Tree of Life is so neat at night so that would be a gorgeous view.

I'd like somewhere good to eat in DHS. The restaurants there are the pits IMO.

It would also be nice to have a good Tex-Mex place somewhere and maybe some decent barbecue.

A place that serves good regional food would be great in the American pavilion. Personally I'd go for good Cajun food but the Tex-Mex and barbecue could be here too.

I agree, there could be more TS restaurants in the parks.

I think MK could use another, hopefully better TS restaurant. Maybe in the lines of an Asian cuisine, that would be great ! We, too, prefer the TS restaurants outside MK so we end up leaving for dinner. I find the selection of TS places limited.

I also would like to see another TS restaurant in AK. Although we love Yak and Yeti, we would prefer to eat at another place when we visit. On our last vacation, we ate there 3 times and would have prefer to eat at another TS. We don't like buffets so Tusker House is not an option. To be honest, I preferred Tusker House when it was a CS restaurant. They had a good choice of menu. We ate there for lunch all the time.

And, finally, I think another TS restaurant can be added in HS. I do like Mama Melrose and we're trying Brown Derby this next vacation. But I'd like to see, again, a TS option in the line of Asian cuisine or Seafood offered.

And I would prefer and hope none of them are buffets. :scared:

I could always go for something Tex-Mex or a deli style place

I always thought a FS Stage Door Canteen off of Sunset at DHS would be fun. You could have some great entertainers in there and custom the food to wartime.
Really there are no good FS restaurants in the MK and absoulutely nothing at all in AK.

There is a new TS going in to MK, at least correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't it going to be called Gaston's?

I love the idea of a tree house restaurant in AK!
For me the biggest and best change would be for almost ALL of the restaurants currently there to have a better childrens menu!

What a fun thread. I agree with OPs that HS needs a good counter service. It would be fun to see an automat style counter service where you select your goodies from little windows-imagine all the food porn!

A Signature/fine dining restaurant in the Castle--with alcohol served.

I know--I know--Walt wanted the MK dry and serving alcohol will never, ever happen. But the question was asked and that's what I'd like to see!!

Other ideas?

1. I'd like to see Pizza Planet. What's that? It already exists? No, i'd like to see the one from the MOVIE :)

2. Haunted Mansion Dining. Nuff said.

3. I second the Tree-House-like dining at Animal Kingdom. Overlooking the Savannah would be nice.

I wanna see a Villian's character meal.
DHS needs some decent food choices.
AK treehouse idea is awesome!

Better character meals, especially with characters that would appeal to the boys. I think all the princess ones are fabulous for the girls, but when researching character meals to do with my boys, I couldn't find anything that really appealed to me/them.

I think it would be a great idea to do a character meal in DHS with characters like the Incredibles, Buzz and Woody from Toy Story, etc.

Or maybe something in Magic Kingdom with Peter Pan and Captain Hook, Pinnochio, etc.
