We have never been to hawaii. We would like to go to hawaiian restaurants that are not as expensive as the ones at aulani. Please give us a list of places. We will have a free rental car for a day with our package. But if you guys think we should keep the car for longer let me know. Are there good restaurantstuff to go to in Honolulu?

Keep the car!! Much to see on your own and at your own pace! Can't really suggest any "Hawaiian" restaurants. I'm not much of an adventurer in my food. I bet if you check out Food Network, there may be suggestions that may interest you.

There is so much to see on Oahu (and most of the islands), that I think you do yourself a disservice by only having the car for one day. I don't know if your package includes a tour of Pearl Harbor, but if not, there is a lot to see there. Besides, the Aulani is much more convenient to Pearl Harbor than any Waikiki hotel, since there is less traffic.

The Four Seasons next door to Aulani have several well reviewed, high end restaurants (haven't tried them yet)

Hoku was the best meal we had the entire trip. Alan Wong's was a close 2nd. Both reviews are in my trip report in my signature.

We also enjoyed Kona Brewing Company, Cajun King for cheaper eats. Nou next door at the Four Seasons was wonderful as well.

We always have a car when we're in Oahu...need it to be able to hit up all the good eats. Here's a list I compiled (many we've eaten at and others we will be trying in a week when we go):

Eats in Oahu
1. Leonard’s (malasadas)
2. Liliha Bakery (famous coco puffs)
3. Giovanni’s shrimp truck
4. Tanioka’s Seafoods and Catering (fried chicken is AMAZING)
5. Ono Seafood
6. Matsumoto Grocery Store (shave ice, North Shore)
7. Nico’s Pier 38 (seafood)
8. Helena’s Hawaiian Foods
9. Side Street Inn
10. Halekulani’s House Without a Key (terrific for cocktails at sunset)
11. Roy’s Restaurant
12. Tamura’s Fine Wine and Liquors (poke)
13. Tonkatsu Ginza Barin
14. Marukame Udon
15. Bubbies Ice Cream
16. Waiola Shave Ice
17. Roy’s (we will only eat Roy’s in Hawaii but not back on the mainland)
18. Shirokiya (Japanese department store with an amazing food section)
19. Kaka’ako Kitchen (furikake chicken)
20. Monkeypod Kitchen
21. Morio’s Sushi Bistro

Have a great time!
