Before our cruise we will be staying at CR for 5 nights and then off to our cruise on DCL, we want to stay for 2 nights after our cruise and just relax and enjoy the resort - so we will need one with great activities for our kids ages 10, 9, 9 and 5 (3 boys and 1 girl). This will be in December 2017, so Christmas decor will be up :) - ideas please?!
Also this will be my family and my sisters family, so 2 rooms.
Thanks again

Poly! You have two beautiful pools and can watch the fireworks from the MK without being in the crowds. You will also have the EWP, good food and the volcano slide is a big hit with kids of ALL ages. ;) You can also hop on over to GF to see gingerbread house. Perfect location to relax in a tropical setting.

I vote for AKL. Kidani has a fantastic pool area with a splash playground and I really enjoyed the animals. There were lots of activities for the kids as well, and the resort has great food options. I think being so close to the MK at the Poly would be a tease, honestly.

Well, honestly, if it was me I'd spend the extra $30/ticket and buy 7 day tickets instead of 5 day tickets, and go to the parks before & after the cruise, lol.

I think AKL would be a great choice. Since you're staying on the monorail before the cruise, I'd stay in a different area after. AKL is beautifully decorated for the holidays and since it's kind of isolated from everything else, it's like a vacation within a vacation. Good luck and happy planning :wizard:.

Another vote for AKL. That is our, not going to the parks, resort of choice. As others have said, great dining options.

I've never been but I would pick AKL. Seems like it has tons of great activities and good dining options. I don't think I would do a MK or Epcot resort without being really tempted to go into a park.

It would have to be Wilderness Lodge for me at Christmas. I know you have been near MK but it's so cute and not on the monorail. The christmas tree in the lobby, rocking chairs! We loved it this past christmas and that was with the consruction going on. It's close to the Fort which has it's cute lights up. Plus a nice buffet dinner place. Also Whispering Cayon restaurant your kids might like in WL.

If it is not still too much in construction for you. Otherwise yes AK is charming but I do find it remote.

I agree with the PP who suggested simply adding 2 days to your existing park tickets and having more park time if you are interested.

Since you are staying at CR, I would choose either a EP resort (for those ages, I would pick BC or BWI) or AKL. BC and BWI are a lot of fun and will have pool games and movies for the kids. There is also entertainment and games on the Boardwalk in the evenings. AKL is absolutely gorgeous and is a destination unto itself. They have a ton of really fun and culturally interesting activities. The nice thing, too, about doing either an MK/EP resort split or MK/AKL resort split is you can save, say, AK for the last part of your trip (if you extend your tickets) and really cut down on travel time. You can do that with the MK/EP resort split as well by focusing on the parks that are in closer proximity to your resort.

I too have to go with Wilderness. After having the Contemporary and the cruise, the Wilderness will be the biggest change of pace. You can relax, enjoy some good dining and never leave the Lodge. Plus, you could take a leisurely walk over to FW and enjoy that laid back feel. In addition, if you forgot something you wanted to buy or have a fave restaurant at CR, you just hop on the boat and ride over there which also connects you to the monorail. WL just has a far different feel than the three deluxe monorail resorts. Feels like you want to curl up in a big chair and read a book.

I'll throw in Beach/Yacht. You are taking a chance of it it will be warm enough to want to use the pool, but if it is, it is the best pool. Plus, you are a short walk to the Boardwalk, and at night, there are all sorts of street performances and shows.

I would also pick AKL! We did this before a cruise and my family loved it! We were not going to the parks on this part of our trip and there was lots to do at the resort. We thought the upgraded room was worth it to have the animals right in front of us. My kids had fun swimming, participating in the kids activities, hidden mickey hunting, watching the animals, and just relaxing. At Christmas time I think they have beautiful decorations as well.

How about a vote for the Ft. Wilderness Cabins? They sleep 6 -- and they have all kinds of fun activities. Everything from seeing the horses, to pony rides, to Chip N' Dale's sing a long, Mickey and Minnie's Backyard BBQ, wagon rides, etc. Now there is only 1 bathroom per cabin, but if you get a golf cart, there are numerous "comfort stations" scattered throughout the property. It is kind of like actual camping - -but with indoor plumbing, flat screen tvs and beds. If you think the cabin is going to be too small -- I would then suggest WL -- and given it's proximity to FWC -- you could still do all the fun things that are offered.

I just reread that it is your family plus your sister's family -- so I'm guessing that I miscounted the number of people and you would definitely need two cabins - however, they are priced below deluxes, even with a golf cart. And, I forgot to note, that the cabins and motor homes get decorated by guests for the holidays -- and there is even a golf cart parade for the decorated carts.
