DS(8) would really like to know what Playstation2 games they have in the Oceaneers Lab.

Hmmm...I hadn't thought to ask this but I'm sure my boys would like to know as well!

Sorry I didn't find the question earlier, I could have asked DD this afternoon. If you don't get an answer sooner, I'll ask DD when she calls next Saturday.

I have no clue but maybe some other folks can answer.

I am guessing that would be a big no. If you think about it I am sure you can understand why. If every child in the club brought there own games ( not that they would but plan for worst case), it would be impossible to monitor for appropriateness (scuze my spelling). As well as the problem of monitoring to make sure one child, or group of children to not take over the game because "their game" is being used. Anyway get my drift? Allowing children to bring in their own games for the playstation would be a whole can of worms I am sure Disney is not willing to open. Then again I may be wrong. But look at it this way. With the amount of money spent on a Disney cruise... do you really want your son playing games on a playstation? Especially games he could of stayed at home to play for the price of an electric bill?

Without getting into a debate or too much into my personal life, we use PS2 as a reward for my son. He had some minor LDs. So yes, I do want my son playing PS2 onboard. Thanks for your opinion, but I'm capable of deciding what is right for my children.

Well, I might rather my DS do other things, but I figure if that's what he likes/wants to do...it's his vacation too, right? This is the only vacation he will have ever taken where he gets to be on "his own schedule" rather then having to go along with what the rest of the family has "planned" for the day! (Besides, as far as the cost of the cruise goes...is passing the time playing video games really any different from laying around on a lounge chair? ;) Well, I suppose it will be cheaper once you take into consideration the cost associated with laying on deck on a lounge chair...all those tropical drinks add up quickly $$$...LOL)

Great analogy jcemom!::yes:: Lord knows my "liquid refreshments" aren't cheap!

hee hee :teeth:

Something else to consider...if Playstation in the Lab keeps DS out of the arcade for even a small amount of time I will *save* tons of money, lol!

I am sorry, I hope you didn't take offense to this, as it wasn't meant to offend you at all. I was just trying to put a positive spin on not have the games. But here is something that may help.

I believe the tvs in the staterooms have av hookups in the FRONT of the tvs. (Someone please correct me if I am wrong). Since they are in the front it should be no problem if you son wants to bring his own system with him. Then he can play his own games whenever he wants. Even if it may mean another thing to add to your luggage!

Thanks for the info! If I let DS bring his own system along I suppose we'd get our money's worth out of the cabin anyway because I doubt he'd leave it, lol. Room service would have a path worn into the carpet directly to our door, lol.

I know I said "it's his vacation too" and all that, buy I think I'll keep this to myself! I'm afraid if he didn't have to leave the room to play games he wouldn't even give the lab a chance! ;)

Congrats on the DCL position, yodasdabomb! How cool! :cool2:

Okay, sorry I don't know all the names of the games, but I do know that there are about 20 of them in the Lab. Some are Disney games, some are sports games, and a very few are educational games. The ones used most often are snowboarding (SSX Tricky I believe), tennis and football. There are 3 PS2 systems total when all on (and all working). There are also about 10-15 computers with nothing but games on them. And they have age appropriate games. Some for the Lab age (8-12s) and some for when the club kids are there (3-7s). If anyone is concerned about the games offered, just remember it's Disney. All are Disney approved. See you on the ship!!!

Thanks for the info about the room TV. Don't know if I'll go that route since then it would be too much of a temptation to him.

Sorry if I'm a little thin skinned, but it's amazing how much unsolicitied advice I get from people meaning well. Sorry if I responded too quickly.

Hey Denise, I understand your situation on the advice. You use what works because YOU know your kid best. I can remember my mom telling me that my son's penmanship was terrible and I should sit him down and have him write a page of A's then a page of B's, etc until he had them perfect! Fortunately, I knew better than to fight that battle or we'd still be sitting there and he's now 28::yes:: IMHO, we all should choose the battles we can WIN and ignore the rest. I bet he's a cool kid.

I asked DD(dazie52) in an e-mail today about the games and I see she jumped on the thread and responded.

I totally understand and I didn't mean it that way in the slightest. No advice here, I cannot offer advice since 1, I don't have kids, and 2, I seem to be pretty addicted to TV and computer myself!:earseek:
