What part of ship for movement?

Hi, Which do you find better for less movement in the cabin. A cabin in the front of the ship (forward, I believe) or the back (aft?). Any recommended cabins for category 8 on the Wonder?

Thanks for your help.

In general, the closer to the center of the ship you are, the less you're going to move. It's also mostly true that the closer you are to the bottom of the ship, the less movement you'll feel.

We stayed mid-ship and felt almost no movement. I am very sensitive to motion, and always need to take motion sickness meds, and it was great even for me!

I noticed that I could feel the most movement in the theater, which I believe is in the front, but that's an unscientific survey. ;)

HI THERE,
I HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE MIDSHIP. I TOLD OUR TA WHEN WE BOOKED DH WAS LEARY OF THE MOTION SO SHE BOOKED US MID SHIP, PLUS WE WERE ON THE 6TH DECK WHICH IS ALSO MID WAY THROUGH THE DECKS. THE MOTION WAS A LOT LESS ON THIS DECK THAN IT WAS ON THE 3RD FLOOR LEAVING OUR DINING ROOM, WHEN THE SEAS WERE A ROCKIN'! :cool1: I WOULD DEFINITELY BOOK THE SAME AREA, PLUS IT WAS VERY QUIET.

Feeling more movement in the theater is also partially due to your eyes. In general, the stuff on the ships is locked down pretty tight. However, when you're in the theater, you can see the curtains at stage right and left doing some free-form swinging. Your eyes see the motion, even if subliminally, and your brain starts wigging out trying to figure why they're seeing this movement.

According to my info the CAt 8 cabins are forward on decks 5, 6, and 7.

Our favorite staterooms are the category 10 & 8s on deck 7. They are far forward & a wonderful quiet location. Very convenient & we really didn't feel very much motion in our room. We felt much more deck 3 & 4 aft in the dining rooms.

Actually it is the further you are away from the bottom of the ship the less movement you feel. The closer you are to the bottom and it is like you are in the water with the waves but the higher up you are the better the stabilizers work.

I should take you sailing sometime and run you up to the top of the mast. Even Captain Bilgewater would get sick up there. Sorry, but the closer to the water, near the epicenter of the hull (the axis of pitch and roll) is the least amount of movement.

low and center is the best.deck 2 midship will feel less motion than deck 6,7,and 8 forward.Trust me on our 7 day cruise in setp. of las year, we where on deck 7. the ship rolled and we felt it ,but some on deck 2 mid ship said that they did not feel all of the motion that made us sick. :rotfl:

But watching Pirates Of The Caribbean there in very rough seas sure make the ship battle scenes more realistic!!!!!

Yep, the lower you go, and in the center, the less motion felt.

LOL! Watching Spy Kids 3D with 15-20 foot swells made it more like a 4D effect show. :) It got to be a bit much at times.

We have stayed aft twice on deck 2 and midship on deck 6 and never had a real problem. In Dec. we will be in a SPR which will be forward and I've heard you can feel it alot more there but I'm counting on it not being a problem ;)

We were in 5650 on our last cruise and being as far aft as you can go, we really felt a lot of movement. Honestly, though, I enjoyed being rocked to sleep at night. It was very peaceful. :confused3

Thanks for all the replies. We'll try to get as mid-ship as we can in our category. Again, thanks
