hello,

i am going away by myself to florida in september. What parks would you recommend for me to go see?

i am 25.

Thanks.

So...the adults/solo travelers board too slow for you? LOL, Juliane, I'm teasing.

I always travel solo. My favorite parks are EPCOT abd MGM but I tour all four at least once each trip.

Are you acquainted with Fantasia Sam? She was in Orlando solo for two weeks last December, I think she's in London. I'll send her a pm and ask her to see if she can give you some advice about this :)

Julie, all of them...........Although we would like to see some more information. Like, what do you like about disney, favorite charetct. and so on. Then maybe you could go to the parks with your favorite charect... DW and I love them all, each for different reasons. So I would say just go with the flow and enjoy your time.

Hi! I've traveled solo to WDW 5 times (soon to be 6), and nativetxn's suggestions show how everyone's different! MGM is my least favorite, I find the pathways too narrow. I love the other 3 parks. At Animal Kingdom, the scenery is so beautiful, and some of those animals you can stand and watch for hours. One time I spent close to an hour just watching the birds in Pangani Trail. At Epcot WS, you can shop in all the pavillions without anyone tugging at you. At MK, because it seems to attract the most families, I like to grab a rocking chair (like Samantha Brown once said, "I brake for rocking chairs") and do some people watching. For people-watching, MK can't be beat. Actually, at MGM, hanging around the sorcerer's hat or Animation Courtyard is fun, or sitting on a bench on the main street there, hoping to see some streetmosphere characters. Actually, there's no bad place to go when you're solo.

hello julieannbabe - fellow Brit

Travelling solo to Florida is great fun as there is sooo much to do, and September is a great time of the year to do so.

So the answer to your question is :

ALL of them :). MGM has some great shows and rides and is very "solo" friendly. MK, as Simba's Mom said does have lots of families there, but there are still plenty of attractions & rides to go on, it is definately a good place to people watch. Animal Kingdom is beautiful for the solo - you can walk all around the park at your pace and look at all the carvings on the tree of life. Epcot is great as you can walk around the World showcase and learn so much about other countries of the world.

How long are you going for? Where are you staying? Were you looking to visit other attractions apart from Disney? Do you like rollercoasters? Do you enjoy shopping? Is this your first trip to Florida?

Sorry so many questions - please feel free to pm or ask any questions. You can also get advice from the UK Trip Planning Board as well here and you know about the solo board where you will get invaluable tips from.

Just so you know I'm off to WDW now for 2 weeks but will catch up with you on my return.

Happy planning :)

i went in march this year for a week with my 12 year old brother.

monday we did Universal Studios
tuesday we did IOA
wednesday we did MK, Disney

To be honest i prefered Universal Studios to MK. I know that you can't compare the two. Maybe as it was the third park on the third consecutive day and we might have been a bit tired plus it was a big shock at how much bigger MK was to Universal.
I really love the behind the scenes on the films too.

So i might go to MGM - Will that be worth it?

I have heard that Animal KIngdom - there is still alot to do in that park? Construction wise?

Epcot is meant to be great - But i don't fancy it for some reason.

What do you guys think?

Cheers

ALL of them! I go once a year with my family, but last year I also made a business trip to WDW during which I managed to spend time in three of the parks plus Pleasure Island. It was great! The best parks for just strolling around are Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Of course you will have to share some ride vehicles with complete strangers. I didn't find that to be a problem.

I've only been to WDW once on a solo trip and I visited each park. But the thing I enjoyed the most was the keys to the kingdom tour. My DD isn't old enough to take the tour, so it was the perfect opportunity for me to try it. It was awesome and because I was the only solo guest, I got to ride with our guide on the HM and got some great tidbits of info!!! I also enjoyed the tour because our group was very interactive and it didn't make me feel like I was alone at all!

julieannbabe, it's hard to compare Universal with MGM. Universal has that "ride the movies" orientation while MGM is more diverse. You won't learn all that much about film-making but the shows are fun. There are a few excellent rides at MGM too so if you have a hopper or something similar I would give it a try.

Animal Kingdom is beautiful but doesn't take that long unless you really take it slow. Epcot has the wonderful World Showcase area with it's fun food and shopping and a few nice rides in Future World. Don't skip the Magic Kingdom! This park is really the heart of WDW.

Do consider checking them all out. I discovered that some things that didn't appeal much to me ahead of time ended up being some of my favorites. The trouble is that if you don't try it, you'll never know.
