We will spend 1 week in WDW and have another week free.

We plan to spend a few days in Port Charlotte (Gulf side) visiting family.
- any recommendation on what we can do there ?
- Which beaches are kids/family friendly ?
- Is there anywhere to go fishing, even charter deep sea fishing ?

We also plan to go to the Kennedy Space Centre after WDW.
- Do we need to stay overnight to spend enough time in the centre ?
- Any good kid friendly beaches around ?

Any comments on Seaworld ? Is it worth visiting ????

Oh my...we have been Sea World passholders since 2003. I wouldn't even imagine why anyone would pass this park up, unless you are not in to the aquatic nature. Plus, Kraken is the smoothest roller coaster I have ever been on, awesome. And if you have kids, Happy Harbour is a relief for you and fun for them.

It just stinks they don't give away free beer samples anymore, lol.

Have fun,
Cheryl

You don't say the ages of the kids, but my family loved SeaWorld & Aquatica.

Aquatica was THE best waterpark I've been too. Easy to learn the layout so I never had to worry about the kids getting lost & not knowing how to get back to homebase. Enough stuff for my adventerous son and my non-advent. son. 2 family rides. I know it isn't as large as some other Orlando water parks, but that is exactly why I prefered it.

There was a combo price for SW/Aquatica last year.

Pt. Charlotte is about 15 miles from Boca Grande, often referred to as the "fishing capital of the world" We have a place down there. There are beautiful beaches there, along with some nice shops and restaurants. You can also charter a boat for inshore or offshore fishing, or to fish world famous Boca Grande Pass for Tarpon. Let me know if you are interested for details.

Your comments are very re-assuring.
I know Port Charlotte is a very nice and quiet place ... we will surely take advantage of it to relax and recuperate after 5 days of non-stop disney.

But part of me was a little worried that the girls (13 and 8 will be bored).

Please feel free to give me more info .... husband will surely want to go fishing. Any idea how much it is to join a fishing group ?
How is fishing at the end of August (of course, as long as there is no hurricane)

Any beach you recommend the most on the gulf side that is clean, convenient and safe for the children to swim in ?

Thank you
