What one item do you pack..

I always pack a tension curtain rod! I put it in the doorway between the closet/sink area and the room. I call housekeeping for a sheet and hang it over the rod. This creates a changing area and saves loads of time with people clogging up the bathroom getting dressed. I take the sheet down when we are not using the "changing area." The rod also doubles as a spot to hang wet stuff.

Admit it, this is a good one!!!!

Extra suitcase for junk we buy and zip lock bags, and TYLENOL! :teeth:

so we can hang up our clothes too and also for the curtains ..........I use them at home for the snacks too....we are to smart!!!!!
trash bags for dirty clothes
small white trash bags for
wet clothes....

my heating pad. I have a terrible neck which can cause a major headache, the heating pad will soothe it enough to get my out of a chair and to the parks.

denise

my feather pillow, cant sleep without it
2 1/2 gallon ziploc bags
smaller ziplocs for tolietries
scented candles & small candle holders for stinky, musty hotel rooms
we pack Sam's stuff in a small suicase and put that in a larger suitcase to get all the stuff home

I stuff underwear, bathing suits, and socks in the ziploc and sit on it to squeeze out all the air...saves a ton of room (and its lots cheaper than the vacuum bag thing). I do the same thing to my pillow.

Nightlight. I travel too much and get too confused when I get up in the middle of the night. Where's the bathroom THIS time?

I pack our own coffee. We can get a coffee maker delivered to the room, but sometimes they don't have coffee, or when they do it's nasty! I pre-fill individual zip lock bags for one small pot (4 cups). Also pack creamer and sugar (looks like something illegal in those zip lock bags!) and a plastic spoon or two. Each day I just throw away the empty baggie.
Makes the luggage smell funny though!

Pop-up Laundry Hamper

I hate dirty clothes scattered all over the room, and the one tiny bag they supply just isn't enough room for all the clothes.

I also pack a small air freshener for the bathroom...you know why...no bathroom windows and those fans don't seem to work very well!! :sad2:
My kid thinks I'm nuts....but while I'm packing for my upcoming trip now, I notice the aerosol can almost empty!....so Somebody's been using it! :teeth:

Great idea!!! :)

No hampers here just set aside a dresser drawer to catch all the dirty clothes.

I bring the instant noodle soups that come in the styrafoam cups. Pack a few for the kids at night if they get hungry.

A flashlight.

You're in a strange (well, unfamilar) place, the power goes out and the emergency lighting doesn't work or isn't enough. Ever stub your toe in the dark? I keep one at bedside at home and I know my way around there. I also keep them all over the house.

::yes::

We bring the waterless disinfecting hand wash for ourselves and our kids. We also bring a cookbook with us so we can try different food for dinner on the days we cook in our room.

Ace wraps. Instant ice packs. I've considered packing EMLA and a suture set, the way my son and his cousins carry on at WDW. I pack nearly every thing everyone else has mentioned, and I also pack a pretty extensive first aid kit. This is because I'm a doctor, and pretty much, my family expects me to have all this stuff. Also, I usually have small sample sized packets, which are nice to pack, so I don't need make the choice between 12 tylenol for $1.25 or the bottle of 100 generic for $3.99. I also normally bring my stethoscope and the otoscope (which usually freaks the security inspectors pretty badly--they must think it's weapon. Come to think of it, some of my younger patients do, too).

Delilah, :teeth: ::yes:: I bet you get some strange looks with all that equipment.

I take a kitchen sized trash bag for dirty laundry. I just move all the clean stuff to one suitcase and put the bag in the other. Makes it a lot easier at home too.

Instead of bathroom air freshener I just pack a couple packs of matches. Just striking the match and then tossing it in the toilet is enough to get rid of the "aroma" and replace it with the smell of the match which is much easier on the senses. It takes up much less room in the suitcase too.
